Pre-ETS Pharmacy Clerk Training Program Now Available Statewide in Oregon
workability LLC has contracted with the State of Oregon's Pre-Employment Training Services (Pre-ETS) department to provide career exploration and summer work experience for students with I/DD aged 17 to 21 who reside anywhere in Oregon.
"Our goal is to introduce neurodiverse and disabled students to allied health careers such as pharmacy clerks. Newly trained workers are needed most in urban and rural Oregon, because that's where the pharmacy tech shortages are most acute," said workability's founder Sheila Jordan. "We originally focused on rural counties in Eastern Oregon, but we received so many inquiries from transition specialists and students in other counties in Western Oregon, we requested that Vocational Rehab allow us to offer the program statewide, and it was approved."
The requirements for participating in this program are:
- Current Oregon student in secondary or post-secondary education.
- Receiving services under an Individual Education Plan (IEP) or 504 Plan, or has a documented disability, and
- Between the ages of 17-21.
How workability will support students' career exploration, training and summer work experience:
- They'll receive access to a free, online training program at no cost.
- They must complete the online training program before they can start a summer work experience. The online training is 15 hours long, and can be done at their own pace. It's best to online learning start right away so they will be ready for a summer work experience.
workability will provide weekly, online support groups where students can ask questions about what they are learning and get answers. These will be led by a licensed pharmacist.
Once students complete the online training, we will help them to land a paid summer work experience in a pharmacy or other healthcare setting in the community where you reside.

The coloring book Learning Nature features over 100 beautiful illustrations of animals and plants that can be found in the Chesapeake Bay region, including crabs, oysters, and striped bass, each accompanied by their name using finger spelling. The beverage team is committed to a sustainability program where they will collect natural wine corks to be recycled and re-corked supporting carbon-negative material solutions.
The new interior decor at Wild Hare Bar Garden brings the outdoors in. Mirrors behind the banquette allow the reflection of the outdoor bar to be reflected within the interior space, allowing an open, airy aesthetic whether dining indoors or out. The restaurant will officially open on June 19, 2023, and will serve breakfast from 6:30 a.m. to 11 a.m., lunch from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m., and dinner from 4 p.m. to 10 p.m. The bar’s operational hours are Monday through Thursday from 4 p.m. to 11 p.m. and Friday and Saturday’s from 4 p.m. to 12 a.m. A private dining room with views of the Martin Luther King Promenade and San Diego Convention Center is perfect for cocktail parties and lunch meetings. A restaurant buy-out can accommodate a maximum of 120 people, while the new private dining room can be reserved for 38 guests.

(OASC), an organization founded in 1945 committed to making the world more aware of, more connected to, and more invested in the African American and the African diaspora experience, announced today the deadline of June 30th for 2023 scholarship applications and the naming of the new graduate Mokjaeiti (meaning "illuminate") Scholarship in memoriam of lifetime member Dr. Toni-Mokjaetji Humber, Vice President & Scholarship Chair.
The scholarship was announced at the new members' reception held June 4th on national Audacity to Hope Day. OASC welcomed attendees and 30 new members to the Los Angeles branch of www.asalh.org, with special guests that included a welcome by Councilwoman Heather Hutt 10th District, Robert Saucedo, CEO Community Build, Seminole Maroon Descendant Phil Fixio (new member) and Commissioner Mike Davis, LA City Public Works who present a special certificate to mark the occasion. The guests were in awe of the venue new Hidden History Museum located at 2131 W. Jefferson Boulevard, CA 90018 in the historic Jefferson Park Neighborhood, which is open Monday thru Friday 11 am to 4 pm for viewing of the exhibits.
