In celebration of Hispanic Heritage Month, get ready to party not just once but twice, as the Board of Directors of the Brevard Hispanic Center hosts two very different events anticipated to attract thousands of guests.

The Viva Brevard Gala will run from 6 p.m. to Midnight, Saturday, October 8, at the Red Ginger Restaurant in Melbourne Square Mall. Six outstanding community members will be honored at the festive dinner, which will include live Latin music and cultural entertainment. Sponsorships for the Viva Brevard Gala range from $1,000 to $5,500. Individual tickets are $80 per person or $150 per couple.

The party continues a week later at The Viva Brevard Festival and Business Expo. The free colorful explosion of Hispanic countries' music, sights, and tastes will run from 11 a.m. to  6 p.m., Saturday, October 15, at Fred Poppe Regional Park. There will be back-to-back musical entertainment and a vendor village offering guests a range of consumer information and opportunities.

Additionally, Brevard Hispanic Center helps the unemployed find jobs by training them to prepare for interviews, build resumes, and network with potential employers.

Brevard Hispanic Center is also home to the DelaCruz Volunteer Health Clinic, where low-income area residents without health insurance can access free health assistance. Volunteer staff, bilingual in Spanish and English, provide routine care and referrals to any uninsured individual, regardless of their cultural or ethnic background. Accessing medical care is a critical issue for many Hispanics who lack financial resources and are unfamiliar with English.
