PARIS, France, November 3, 2026 (EZ Newswire) -- The Institut Français du Design formally presented Qannati Objet d’Art, the French-Bahraini maison of wearable art, with the JANUS du Patrimoine et de l’Innovation (Heritage & Innovation). The label was awarded to the maison’s Celebration of Time collection, a 2022 laureate.

The label was presented at the JANUS 2026 ceremony at the Palais du Luxembourg in Paris, a French institution built for Queen Marie de Médicis in 1615. The ceremony was held under the high patronage of the President of the French Republic.

Diplomas were presented to Mahmood Qannati, founder of the maison, and to Frédéric Mané, its Master Designer and Creative Director, for the design language and execution behind the collection.

The JANUS is France’s official label of design excellence. Its lineage runs to a label created by ministerial order on Nov. 13, 1953, renamed JANUS in 1984. It is awarded by the Institut Français du Design, which marks its 75th anniversary in 2026. A multidisciplinary jury of some 50 experts assesses every candidate on five criteria, the “5E”: Economy, Aesthetics, Ergonomics, Ethics and Emotion.

The Patrimoine et Innovation category recognises craftsmanship that evolves while staying rooted in its place, sustaining skilled jobs and the long-term future of the house that practises it.

Celebration of Time is a collection of thirteen unique creations: six pairs of Quantum timepieces and Eternity bracelets, and a thirteenth masterpiece, Alpha. Together they trace a journey from the birth of the universe to the future of interplanetary travel. The pieces are set with materials such as fossilised dinosaur bone, a meteorite and a Roman coin.

In its opinion, the jury praised the artisanal making of a collection of luxury objects that “innovates through an original and coherent narrative… drawing on a unique archaeological material.”

Speakers at the ceremony included Anne-Marie Sargueil, President of the Institut Français du Design; Jean-Baptiste Lemoyne, Vice-chair of the Senate Finance Committee, former Secretary of State and former mayor of Vallery; and Bernard Charlès of Dassault Systèmes.

Founded in 1951 by Jacques Viénot, the Institut Français du Design selects, labels and promotes innovation and design for companies and local authorities. It celebrates its 75th anniversary in 2026.
