RIYADH, Saudi Arabia, September 2, 2026 (EZ Newswire) -- The General Secretariat of the King Faisal Prize announced September 1, 2026, that it welcomes nominations to the 2028 King Faisal Prize across its five categories: Service to Islam, Islamic Studies, Arabic Language and Literature, Medicine, and Science.

Secretary General of King Faisal Prize Dr. Abdulaziz Alsebail noted that the opening of nominations marks a major milestone in the prize’s 50-year history of recognizing and honoring prominent individuals and entities whose contributions have enriched humanity.

Dr. Alsebail announced the specific topics for the 2028 award categories as follows:

  • Islamic Studies: "The Islamic Heritage in al-Andalus"
  • Arabic Language and Literature: "Arabic Literature from the Perspective of Comparative Studies"
  • Medicine: "RNA-Based Therapeutics"
  • Science: “Biology”

The Service to Islam category remains an honorary award presented to individuals or organizations whose exceptional efforts have served Islam, Muslims, and humanity as a whole.

Nominations will remain open for seven months, from September 1, 2026, through March 31, 2027. Submissions are accepted from academic and scientific institutions, as well as research centers, and can be submitted via postal mail, email at nominations@kingfaisalprize.org, or through the official portal at kingfaisalprize.org/nominations.
