GENEVA, Switzerland, October 1, 2026 (EZ Newswire) -- The International Spiritual Council for Transforming Humanity (ISCTH) coordinated public events in over 135 cities across 41 countries on the International Day of Peace, under the campaign theme "The World Moves for #IAmPeace." More than 20,000 people took part worldwide.

The events, held Sept. 20–21, 2026, included peace walks, human chains, and community dialogues. Participants were invited to make a personal commitment summed up in three words: "I Choose Peace."

A campaign built on individual commitment

The campaign is based on the premise that peace begins with individual choices. The aim was to move the conversation about peace from an abstract ideal to something people can act on in daily life, through how they treat others, resolve disagreements and take part in their local communities, building bridges of human connection, and a united resolve towards peace. "The World Moves for #IAmPeace" draws on the teachings of Maitreya Dadashreeji, visionary and inspiration of ISCTH. Dadashreeji's central teaching is that true lasting change in the world begins with transformation in the individual.

"Our first agenda must be global peace. When we realize 'I am peace' and let the collective spiritual strength of humanity unite with a singular purpose, it becomes an unstoppable force for peace, transforming every individual, uplifting every society, and ultimately harmonizing our entire world." — Maitreya Dadashreeji, visionary and inspiration of ISCTH

Three formats, one theme

Events in participating cities followed three main formats:

  • Global peace walks: Participants walked together in public spaces as a visible expression of their commitment to peace.
  • Global human chains: Participants joined hands to represent the interconnectedness of people across communities and borders.
  • Peace dialogues: Facilitated conversations gave participants a space to discuss harmony, coexistence, and ways to build more peaceful communities.

Each city organised its own programme within this shared framework, so events reflected local cultures, languages, and community priorities.

Focus on children and young people

Children and young people were a central audience for the campaign. Through creative activities like a letter to humanity for a peaceful future, reflection, art and dialogue, they were encouraged to consider their own role in building a culture of peace. The message used across these activities was "IAmPeace — Peace Begins with Me."

Participation across five global regions

Events took place in the following 41 countries:

  • Europe (21): Austria, Belgium, Croatia, Czech Republic, Denmark, France, Germany, Greece, Hungary, Iceland, Italy, Latvia, Liechtenstein, Monaco, Poland, Portugal, Slovakia, Slovenia, Spain, Switzerland, United Kingdom
