Motorola, one of the world's leading smartphone manufacturers, today announced the launch of Global Connect, its new travel feature powered by Gigs, the global leader in embedded connectivity. For the first time, a major smartphone brand is making travel data a built-in part of the smartphone experience, giving eligible users instant access to connectivity in more than 160 countries directly from their device. For a limited time, every eligible user receives 1 GB of complimentary global data, ready to go from the moment they set up their phone.

As football fans head to the big games and summer travel hits its peak, Motorola is positioned to meet the millions of fans crossing borders this season.

Powered by Gigs, Global Connect uses a single eSIM that users install once, allowing them to purchase and activate data plans seamlessly wherever they travel. The 1 GB free promotion allows users to connect globally, free of charge. Inside the app, users can browse plans, monitor usage and top up at any time within a fully Motorola-branded experience.

The app launches today in Brazil, Mexico, Argentina, Peru and Chile, with Germany, the United Kingdom and select devices within Europe expected to follow in the coming weeks.

“Motorola is proud to launch Global Connect during one of the biggest moments in football, when millions of our users will be travelling,” said Sudhir Chadaga, VP Partnerships, Motorola. “Staying connected abroad has always been more complicated than it should be. Global Connect gives users smarter technology from the moment they set up their device, making it easier to stay connected wherever they go.”

For Gigs, this launch is the next milestone in its mission to embed connectivity seamlessly into the devices and apps people love.

“Motorola is one of the world’s most recognized smartphone brands with tens of millions of users who travel each year,” said Hermann Frank, CEO and co-founder, Gigs. “This partnership puts global connectivity into every Motorola user’s pocket, ensuring they land with maps, banking, rides and all the essentials working instantly, wherever they travel. That’s a radically better experience, and one that Gigs is proud to power.”
