OASC Teams Up with LA County AC Bilbrew Library to Celebrate Dr. Carter G. Woodson the "Father" of Black History
Our Authors Study Club, Inc. an organization that strives to make the world more aware of, more connected to, and more invested in the African American and the African diaspora experience, is excited to announce its collaboration with the LA County AC Bilbrew Library to celebrate Dr. Carter G. Woodson, the "Father" of Black History. This OASC “Conversations For Change” speakers event and Continental Breakfast marks the 108th anniversary of the founding of the Association for the Study of African American Life and History (ASALH) by Dr. Woodson. This event will be held at the AC Bilbrew Library, 150 E. El Segundo Blvd, Los Angeles, CA 90061, Saturday, September 16, 2023, from 10:30 AM to 12:30 PM and is free to the public. The AC Bilbrew Library is named for an iconic Black woman who was a ground-breaking game-changer in her own right. However, she is almost forgotten, her impact in the music industry, the early suffragette movement and fight for children's services are barely noted. The same is true of the Black Resource Center. OASC's decision to partner with the AC Bilbrew Library for this important event reflects its commitment to bring Black history to the forefront. Through culture, scholarship, technology, and research, OASC aims to ignite conversations around the African and African American experience.
Additionally, OASC strives to ensure that libraries, museums, schools, and media do not ignore Black lives. OASC firmly believes that Black History is not just a part of American history, but it is American history itself. The contributions of Black Americans and the caretakers of that history deserve recognition, amplification, and honor.

The event features two special guest speakers who represent LA County Library's finest. Librarians who are doing exceptional work in their communities and will share critical information about the programs and collections they work with. They are:
Daniel Hernandez, Chicano Resource Center Librarian: Serving for over 15 years. in this position, he is responsible for cultural programming, outreach, and management of the Center’s unique collection of materials on the Chicano Movement. As Chicano Resource Center librarian, he has produced over 200 cultural programs including the award winning Tell Your True Tale writer's workshop and the community-based Foto East LA. He is a seminal part of the LA County Library’s Immigration Task Force which develops services and programs for immigrant communities. Daniel Hernandez earned his Master’s in library and information Science in 2004 from San Diego State University.
Crystal Hodges, Community Library Manager at Compton Library: Serving in this position at LA County Library for 5 years where she relocated from Texas, Ms. Hodges has a passion to push forward diversity, representation, and equity in libraries while providing the community, especially young Black, Indigenous, People of Color (BIPOC), with a new perspective for reading. During her employment with LA County Library, she’s annually assisted the Black Resource Center in systemwide Black History Month (BHM) programming such as: facilitating and moderating The Compton Cowboys: A Legacy of African Americans in Equine and Western Heritage, as well as Unspeakable: The Tulsa Race Massacre with Carole & Jeffery Boston Weatherford. Most recently, she was selected to lead the management, facilitation, and planning of LA County Library's participation in the Institute of Museum and Library Services (IMLS) national celebration of the 50th anniversary of hip-hop collaborating with over 40 organizations representing libraries, museums, colleges/universities, archives, and cultural institutions.
Looking ahead, Our Authors Study Club is dedicated to continuing its mission of making the world more aware of the African American and the African diaspora experience. Through ongoing cultural events, educational initiatives, and collaborations, OASC aims to create more opportunities for everyone to engage with and learn from our rich history.

Space EA Introduces “InQuiro Semiconductor Technology”: New Microchip Manufacturing Subsidiary
Space system experts at Space Engineering & Acquisition Systems, Inc. (Space EA) introduce InQuiro Semiconductor Technology (IST), the newest addition to the corporation. IST, the microchip manufacturing arm of Space EA, is a subsidiary scheduled to launch this year. As part of an aggressive expansion plan, IST will provide next generation manufacturing technology.
Space EA has had an impressive record of accomplishments over the past 15 years as engineering and space technology experts. They’ve worked with large government contracts for the Department of Defense, NASA and the US Space Force, while its subject matter experts (SMEs) have over four decades of advanced technology. With the newest addition, Space EA will not only develop satellite technology but also the microchips that are used in the satellites. These next generation microchips will be able to perform in almost any application from computers, telecommunications, utility power grids, green energy technology, manufacturing operations, and applications across multiple industries.
InQuiro Semiconductor Technology is scheduled to have manufacturing capabilities for microchips of various sizes 7 nm, 12 nm, 24 nm and more. Their mission is to shift commercial and government customers to faster production cycles and lower costs compared to current advanced and specialty chip manufacturing capabilities. By using a new maskless process that is capable of advanced node, low volume manufacturing, and high customization microchips, IST will be able to expedite delivery to their customers almost 90% faster than existing technologies. While existing chip manufacturers will take 1 year or more to produce a microchip order, IST can produce it within weeks.
Another key advantage is IST and Space EA’s collaboration with Austin-based technology company NewLinum LLC, to develop a quantum-secure cybersecurity software solution on a microchip. Called “Secure Chips”, it’s the first microchip of its kind in this new era of technology. NewLinum’s proprietary software technology package is designed to protect networks from cyber-attacks utilizing unique processes. According to company officials, Secure Chips technology application will be deployable after the launch of IST.
Heralded as a technological breakthrough, every microchip and sensor that IST produces will be secured against cyber-attacks and infiltration including quantum computer attacks. The microchips and sensors will appear hidden and undiscernible to other networks and cyber operations. Network transmissions cannot be detected therefore making it impervious to external interruptions through hacking, denial of service (DDoS) attacks or other unwelcome intruders.
All protocols of the security technology activate a patented random data generator, which never repeats a pattern and results in exponential algorithmic complexity and randomization. It does not respond to port probes, fake IP attempts, unapproved network messages, replay-, altered-, or inserted messages, DDoS, and MiTM.
Rico Jones, Founder and Principal Director of Space EA and IST, explains in more detail, “Our technology suite utilizes a patented Network Access Control - a hardened network process which is immune to external hacking and DDoS attacks. Its hyper-secure global intranet methodology provides no discernable data to an unauthorized attempt. Space EA has initiated R&D into the field of microelectronics ruggedized hardware solutions which will negate the effects of an electromagnetic pulse (EMP)”.
Cyber protection on microchips and sensors is critically important. A disruptive attack on a power grid for example, can cause a series of effects and cripple the city it serves. IST’s new technology for microchips has multiple proprietary protocols which enable quantum-proof secure channels of communication within the network.
Dr. John Seamons, PhD., Chief Technical Officer (CTO) at Space EA and IST, highlighted that, “the on-location internally generated token creation and destruction is a gamechanger in the area of key distribution and token security. The technology operates without the limitations and physical security needs of traditional tokens.”
The quantum computer is 158 million times faster than the most sophisticated supercomputer. It is widely known to be the next big threat to cyber technology. According to IST, Secure Chips technology delivers multiple post-quantum cryptographic algorithms that defeat attacks by Quantum Computing, Cryptanalysis, Statistical Analysis, Mathematical Analysis, and AI. This year sees the Festival’s second annual collaboration with Oakwood University and the City of Charleston Mayor John Tecklenberg to create Charleston READS! Charleston Literary Festival's Young Writer Awards
This year marks the pilot year for Charleston Literary Festival’s Young Writer Awards. Dedicated to recognizing students with exceptional writing talent while promoting the transformative power of literature and encouraging creative growth, the Young Writer Awards are open to all 10th, 11th, and 12th graders enrolled in a public high school in Charleston County. Awards will be given to six students in two categories: personal essay (nonfiction) and short story (fiction). Captain Cookie's dedication to the local community takes center stage at the inauguration. The small business will donate ten percent of grand opening sales to benefit DC Central Kitchen, a social enterprise non-profit committed to battling hunger through job training and job creation. International Muralist Riivo to Make Special Appearance at ‘TripLineDrop’
The highly anticipated art and music exhibit, ‘TripLineDrop’, is happening this Friday, August 25th from 7 to 10 p.m. at the White Gallery, located at 709 Coleman Blvd in Mount Pleasant. Featured artists include Masáre and Scott Parsons with musicians DJ Moldybrain, Graham Whorley, and Paul Harris.
The event has tapped the infamous artist and muralist, Riivo Kruuk, to make a special appearance for a live mural and pop-up micro exhibit. Working in oils and spray paint, Riivo work explores Estonian folklore and traditional clothing fused with contemporary motifs and pop culture. Using graffiti to represent the colorful grit of where he grew up, Riivo paints his figures decorated in embroidery-esque and graffiti tag-like adornments, painting both men and women in similar fashion, simultaneously creating a unity and duality in his work.
Riivo Kruuk was born in 1998 and grew up in Fort Lauderdale, Florida. He graduated with a BFA from Florida Atlantic University with a focus in painting in 2020. Since graduating, he has continuously gathered a list of shows and murals around the U.S. and on the international stage.
