The Pictor Gallery, a fine art gallery located in the historic Landmark Arts Building in New York’s Chelsea District, today announced two new exhibitions that will be on display from March 28th to April 22nd, 2023: Day Dreams by Jim Irvine in Gallery 1, and Natural State by Michele Benjamin, Kathleen Gefell, Ken Nelson, and Elizabeth Stern in Gallery 2.

The Pictor Gallery is located at 547 West 27th Street, Suite 204, New York, NY 10001, and is open Tuesday through Saturday from 12:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. The opening reception for the new exhibits will take place on Tuesday, March 30th from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m., and again on Saturday, April 1st from 2:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m.

Jim Irvine: The work in this show explores the kaleidoscope of light, movement, and experiences that resurface in Day Dreams. They become the inspiration for these mixed media works on canvas and paper. Jim distills the essence of memory, structure, color, and mark-making to create a multi-layered experience allowing one to escape into the moment.

Elizabeth Stern: In experimentations of paint, printmaking, and mixed media, Stern's work alludes to observations of nature and organic forms—the Tennessee sky, the tree-covered hills, the changing light, and the wind in motion.

Ken Nelson: In his evolving exploration of the state of nature, Nelson listens to the ephemeral voices that speak to him. For him, painting the landscape is the exploration of the ever-changing aspects of our environment, while listening to the voices of those that have passed this way before us.

Michele Benjamin: Fine art and the natural environment inspire the creation of Benjamin’s wildlife forms, including bees, hummingbirds, lions, tigers, elephants, bears, and more. These elements add beauty and significance to the enrichment of the human experience.

Kathleen Gefell: The many beautiful shapes in the natural world, including form, line, texture, and color, are Gefell’s preoccupations.
