A new clinical review by U.S. naturopathic physician Heidi Weinhold, ND, published in the Fall 2025 issue of Homeopathy Today (National Center for Homeopathy), features Encer among evidence-based homeopathic options to help manage cancer treatment–related fatigue (CTRF).

In her professional article, “Integrative Support for Breast Cancer Treatment Plans,” Dr. Weinhold discusses common side effects of breast-cancer therapy — including fatigue, skin irritation, nausea, and joint pain — and presents homeopathic recommendations supported by published research. Within the CTRF section, she explicitly names Encer and describes it as a homeopathic product formulated to relieve fatigue, concentration difficulties, and mental lethargy associated with oncology care:

"Encer, a homeopathic medicine for relieving fatigue symptoms, contains a combination of five remedies: Phosphoric acid 30C, Cadmium sulphuricum 30C, X-ray 6C, Carbo animalis 30C and Radium bromatum 30C. I recommend taking Encer twice daily."

Her review cites supporting clinical evidence from a randomized, double-blind, placebo-controlled trial published in Integrative Cancer Therapies (2021, DOI: 10.1177/15347354211019470). The study, conducted among 77 women receiving adjuvant breast radiotherapy, found that participants taking a homeopathic five-medicine regimen — which included Cadmium sulphuratum, Phosphoricum acidum, Radium bromatum, X-ray and Carcinosinum 30C — maintained attention performance one month after completing treatment, while those receiving a placebo showed a decline. The researchers reported no adverse effects and concluded that the regimen had a measurable late benefit on attention performance, assessed through physiological testing.

Encer incorporates four of those same homeopathic medicines — Cadmium sulphuratum, Phosphoricum acidum, Radium bromatum and X-ray — substituting Carcinosinum with Carbo animalis, another HPUS-recognized ingredient traditionally used in fatigue-related contexts.

“Based on my clinical experience and supported by findings from a randomized, placebo-controlled trial, Encer represents an appropriate supportive therapy for managing cancer-related fatigue,” said Dr. Yakov Freed, developer of Encer and a leader in homeopathic medicine. “The formulation, derived from the same components shown to prevent cognitive and fatigue deterioration in breast cancer patients during radiotherapy, offers a safe and evidence-based option to improve patients’ quality of life.”

Understanding Cancer-Related Fatigue

Cancer-related fatigue is one of the most common side effects of chemotherapy and radiotherapy, affecting up to 60 percent of patients during and after treatment. Symptoms include persistent exhaustion, weakness, and cognitive sluggishness not relieved by rest.

Because few pharmacologic solutions exist, integrative and non-drug approaches — including exercise, mindfulness, and selected homeopathic preparations — are increasingly studied as adjunctive support to conventional care.
