Based on their analysis of the immigration market, iWorld has recorded a 60% increase in demand for startup visas to Spain. Startups are expected to generate 10,000 jobs in Spain by the end of 2025. For this reason, the government is shifting its economic focus from tourism to innovation and renewable energy. This shift is also evident in Spain's immigration policy, as the Golden Visa program for investors was discontinued in April of this year.

The first surge in startup immigration occurred in 2023, thanks to the Beckham Law. A six-year income tax break was granted to startup founders and their qualified employees. They only pay taxes on profits earned in Spain, and the rate is 24% for income up to EUR 600,000. The law encouraged startup registration, pushing their total value to over EUR 100 billion in 2024.

Registering a startup in Spain simplifies the funding process. There are dozens of accelerators and incubators operating in Spain, along with the European Innovation Council Accelerator and Enisa government programs. In 2025, Banco Sabadell increased its budget for startup support to EUR 2 million.

A Spanish startup visa is issued to founders of innovative companies and their families. For the first four years, these businesses pay a 15% tax rate instead of 25%. The size of the investment is irrelevant. Applications are processed in just 20 business days. A residence permit is initially issued for three years and can be extended for two years at a time.

Over the past year, the number of applications for the Spanish startup visa through iWorld has increased by 60%. The largest increase in requests came from Americans, Britons, Algerians, and Nigerians. iWorld analysts predict the growth will continue through 2026.

"We've seen an increase in requests for Spanish residence permits over the past 10 years," says Aleksey Nosovsky, head of iWorld's legal department. "But 2025 has been the most active year. After all, Spain is an ideal location for companies seeking investment. In the first nine months of 2025 alone, local startups raised EUR 2.606 billion, compared to EUR 1.9 billion in all of 2024."
