European Jewish Association Calls on Federal Officials to Investigate the Lemkin Institute for Genocide Prevention
The European Jewish Association (EJA) today issued an urgent call to U.S. Antisemitism Czar Leo Terrell, Attorney General Pam Bondi, and relevant federal authorities to open a formal investigation into the Lemkin Institute for Genocide Prevention for its repeated use of the term genocide as a weapon against Israel and the global Jewish community.
The EJA alleges that the Lemkin Institute — a Pennsylvania-based 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization founded in 2021 — has engaged in advocacy and policy campaigning far beyond the scope of its charitable status, while fueling antisemitism through false and inflammatory accusations targeting the State of Israel.
Weaponizing “Genocide” Against Israel
The Lemkin Institute, named after Raphael Lemkin — the Polish-Jewish scholar who coined the term genocide following the Holocaust — has repeatedly issued statements accusing Israel of genocide, even as Hamas and its Iranian-backed affiliates continue to commit atrocities against Israeli civilians.
“To exploit Raphael Lemkin’s name to accuse the world’s only Jewish state of genocide is not just false — it is profoundly antisemitic,” said Harley Lippman, board member of the European Jewish Association. “This organization’s rhetoric gives moral cover to terrorist movements and has contributed directly to the surge in antisemitic violence and hostility across American campuses and cities.”
The EJA argues that such misuse of the genocide framework undermines the memory of the Holocaust, distorts international law, and creates an environment where antisemitism is normalized under the guise of human rights advocacy.
Request for Federal Oversight
The European Jewish Association formally urges:
- Leo Terrell, U.S. Special Envoy and Antisemitism Czar, to investigate the public harm and antisemitic consequences of the Lemkin Institute’s communications and publications.
- Attorney General Pam Bondi and the U.S. Department of Justice to assess whether the Institute’s conduct constitutes misrepresentation under federal nonprofit law, including dissemination of politically motivated disinformation.
- The Internal Revenue Service (IRS) to conduct a review of the Lemkin Institute’s Form 990 filings, its compliance with 501(c)(3) regulations, and whether its policy and issue advocacy violates the limits imposed on tax-exempt charitable entities.
“A 501(c)(3) must serve the public interest — not a political agenda,” said Lippman. “When an organization uses its tax-exempt platform to delegitimize Israel and incite antisemitism, it becomes a matter for both moral and federal accountability. And this at a time when there are a handful of actual genocides in the world, say Nigeria and others.”
Background
The Lemkin Institute for Genocide Prevention was founded in 2021 with the stated purpose of preventing genocide worldwide. However, since October 7, 2023, the organization has issued a series of highly politicized statements exclusively targeting Israel while remaining silent on ongoing genocides against Christian and minority communities in Africa and the Middle East.
The EJA asserts that this selective focus demonstrates a pattern of bias and weaponization of humanitarian language that betrays the principles for which Raphael Lemkin stood and calls into question whether the organization’s activities qualify as charitable under federal law.

Cool Comedy • Hot Cuisine Raises More Than $1.2 Million for the Scleroderma Research Foundation
Last night, in a special evening honoring Adam Duritz of Counting Crows, Cool Comedy • Hot Cuisine raised more than $1.2 million for the Scleroderma Research Foundation (SRF) — the country's first and leading nonprofit investor in medical research into scleroderma. Hosted by Jeff Ross, and co-chaired by SRF board members Susan Feniger and Regina Hall alongside Caroline Hirsch and Kelly Rizzo, the signature fundraising event featured some of the biggest names in comedy to support the SRF's mission, funding cutting-edge research programs and educational outreach. Adam Duritz received the Bob Saget Legacy Award, recognizing his steadfast support for scleroderma research and his commitment to continuing the legacy of late SRF Board Member Bob Saget.
The event was presented in partnership with the New York Comedy Festival (NYCF), the largest and longest-running annual comedy festival in the United States, taking place through November 16. Now in its 21st year, the festival was founded by Caroline Hirsch, owner of the iconic comedy club Carolines on Broadway, and long-time SRF collaborator.
Susan Feniger and Nikki Glaser presented Adam Duritz with the Bob Saget Legacy Award with Feniger sharing a touching story of how Adam’s music helped Bob through the loss of his sister and how he stepped in on a moment's notice to perform at a previous Cool Comedy • Hot Cuisine event, while Glaser expressed her longtime admiration for the Counting Crows frontman.
"It's a terrible disease that isn't as well known as cancer, so it doesn't get the funding. But people still suffer horribly from it. Bob [Saget] was very devoted to making a change for people with scleroderma. He instilled in me a deep respect for this organization," said Adam Duritz.
"I started hosting this a few years ago, taking over for Bob. Bob cared about people; his sister had scleroderma. A lot of people here tonight have scleroderma. This is our way to keep Bob in the VIP section of heaven. Everybody gets together for the same cause. We laugh at the same things, we get fat together, we cry together, and we raise money to fight a horrible disease,” said Jeff Ross.
Some of the world's most talented performers generously donated their time to raise funds for the Scleroderma Research Foundation and to find a cure. After a dinner curated by Susan Feniger, the audience was treated to comedy sets by Emmy-nominated writer and stand-up comedian Hannibal Buress, rising comedy star Kelsey Cook, Grammy-nominated comedian and bestselling author Jim Gaffigan, and Golden Globe-nominated comedian and recent SNL host Nikki Glaser. The evening also featured special guest appearances by legendary journalist and television personality Katie Couric and surprise guest Matt Friend, who joined Jeff Ross on stage to deliver his signature celebrity impressions.
Katie Couric led the live auction alongside Billy Harris, creating an electric moment when she strummed a guitar donated by John Mayer. Among the evening's most poignant auction items was an emerald necklace designed by Bob Saget's daughter Lara.
"I'm so honored to be here as always. To be here to support the cause, fund research, and put the SRF out of business by finding a cure. This is the fourth event since Bob passed, and to be able to bring in some of his friends, people who looked up to him and loved him, has been really special," said Kelly Rizzo.
"Bob Saget was a mentor of mine in comedy. I'm so honored to be here because I know how much this cause meant to him. I really love being part of anything that's raising awareness and funds for research into diseases that need a cure," said Kelsey Cook.
Cool Comedy • Hot Cuisine was founded in 1987 by Scleroderma Research Foundation (SRF) founder Sharon Monsky and SRF board member Susan Feniger. Susan brought Caroline Hirsch into the fold from the very beginning. Caroline, who received the Bob Saget Legacy Award in 2023, has been instrumental in growing the event over the decades.
“We started the event back in the late ’80s, when we were working together in New York. It’s grown tremendously over the years — and then Bob Saget came in and helped turn the night into something even bigger. Now, all these years later, it’s incredible to see and continue the legacy and have it be a part of the festival,” said Caroline Hirsch.
Since 1987, Cool Comedy • Hot Cuisine has been a cornerstone of the SRF's fundraising efforts, raising over $30 million to fund research aimed at finding a cure for scleroderma.
The SRF is the United States' leading nonprofit investor in scleroderma research. Scleroderma, often misdiagnosed, is a rare and often life-threatening autoimmune disease that can cause fibrosis in the skin and other vital organs. In the most severe cases, complications can damage the heart, lungs, and digestive system. The SRF funds and facilitates the most promising, highest-quality research aimed at improved therapies and, ultimately, a cure for scleroderma.
About Scleroderma Research Foundation (SRF)
The Scleroderma Research Foundation (SRF), a 501(c)(3) organization, was established in 1987 with a mission to fund and facilitate the most promising, highest-quality research aimed at new treatments and, ultimately, a cure for scleroderma. Led by a scientific advisory board composed of some of the most highly regarded scientists in the nation, the SRF’s research program actively seeks out the leading scientific minds from disparate fields, including autoimmunity, immunology, genetics, and fibrosis, to join the scleroderma research community. In addition to its core research program, the SRF has also led the formation of several large-scale projects aimed at accelerating scleroderma research, including the highly innovative CONQUEST platform clinical trial — a first of its kind in rare autoimmune diseases. The SRF is also dedicated to educating people living with scleroderma and their caregivers about how to best manage the challenges of the disease. BrYet Expands Patent Portfolio with New U.S. Patent for Targeted Drug Delivery
BrYet US, Inc. ("BrYet"), a biotechnology innovator focused on developing curative therapies for advanced cancers, announced today that it has expanded its patent portfolio with the issuance of U.S. Patent No. 12,390,420, titled “Compositions for Targeted Delivery of Therapeutic Agents and Methods for the Synthesis and Use Thereof." The patent covers compositions and methods intended to guide therapies to target tissues and control their release using the company’s proprietary nanoporous silicon microparticles (NSMP) and multi-component architecture.
The newly-patented technology provides the foundation for a robust pipeline of therapies, with a near-term application in BrYet’s work pairing its proprietary platform with kinase inhibitors (KIs) — targeted medicines that help switch off overactive growth signals in some cancers.
Traditionally, the therapeutic efficacy of kinase inhibitors is often limited by poor drug delivery to tumor sites and the rapid development of drug resistance. The human body has a series of biological barriers that affect drug distribution and can prevent the desired accumulation of therapeutic agents at the cancer site while inducing adverse side effects. BrYet’s patented approach aims to improve the delivery of KIs by overcoming such biological barriers with a platform that comprises three elements: nanoporous silicon microparticles (NSMP), functional groups introduced to the surface of NSMP, and therapeutic drugs bound to the chemically modified NSMP through non-covalent interaction.
By packaging more than one KI together and releasing them at the same tumor site, BrYet aims to address treatment resistance with vertical and/or horizontal pathway inhibition. Rational combinatorial targeted therapies have been shown to enhance antitumor activity and overcome resistance to the therapy. Additionally, BrYet's delivery platform is designed to minimize adverse side effects with lung-selective delivery.
“This patent expands the applications for our targeted approach to treating cancer,” said Dr. Mauro Ferrari, president and CEO of BrYet. “It strengthens our ability to pair our delivery science with targeted medicines such as kinase inhibitors, bringing us one step closer to our ultimate goal of delivering functional cures.”
“By coordinating how and where each agent is released, we aim to improve the odds against therapeutic resistance and help patients in the greatest need,” said Dr. Masakatsu Eguchi, senior scientist of BrYet and the patent’s inventor.
BrYet plans to continue preclinical and clinical studies of its technology — including programs that combine targeted therapies such as KIs — and to explore partnerships to accelerate development toward the clinic.
Most recently, BrYet received Australian approval to begin its first-in-human clinical study of ML-016, the company's lead therapeutic. ML-016 targets cancer-specific phenotypes in lung and liver cancers using the same vascular-targeting NSMP technology that will be used for the KI line.
About BrYet
BrYet is a privately held biotechnology company developing potentially first-in-class therapies for patients suffering from cancers for which there is no current curative treatment. BrYet’s lead asset, ML-016, is being developed for cancers of the lungs and liver, including advanced primary malignancies and metastatic spread from primary cancer that originates in other organs or tissue of the body. The company’s fundamental belief is that upon localization in the lungs and liver, these cancers acquire molecular transport phenotypes that are conserved regardless of site of origin and are largely independent of molecular mutations and their continued evolution. BrYet designs multi-component new chemical entities and formulations, which are directed against the fundamental aspects of these cancer-associated, organ-specific transport phenotypes. The company’s proprietary platforms include the mesoporous silicon components, and the mathematical formalism for designing the multi-component drugs, termed Transport Oncophysics. BrYet believes that similar approaches may provide advances against other forms of presently incurable cancers, as well as other pathologies of the lungs and liver. Snowbirds Moving: The Seasonal Migration of Americans Across Country and Why Americans Move South Every Winter
Snowbirds are individuals who spend their winters in warmer climates, but usually live in cold-weather regions, like Michigan. They are called snowbirds because their migrations resemble the migration of birds during the winter. While retirees are the most common people in the category, snowbirds are more diverse than ever. Here’s a closer look at the numbers:
Types of snowbirds
Seasonal travelers
These are individuals who live outside of the U.S. and prefer to wait out the winter in warmer states like Florida. As of 2025, more than 1 million Canadians make the journey down to Florida, with a big segment of them being retirees.
Retirees and older adults
About 65% to 75% of this segment consists of people aged 55 and older. These are lucky individuals who have retired from their work and would like to spend their well deserved retirement somewhere warmer. They have a permanent residence up north, but spend their winters in warmer places.
Digital nomads
While most surveys focus on individuals aged 55 and older, there is an 11% group of younger adults who prefer the digital nomad lifestyle. Thanks to remote work, increasing numbers of people aged 25 and up have joined older retirees in the search for warmer winters down south.
Temporary residence
This group includes people aged 25 to 85 and older who maintain two homes. They return north for spring and summer, then head south for autumn and winter. About 64% of snowbirds are college-educated, with an average income between $60,000 and $70,000. Their primary motivation is to escape the winter. Preferred modes of travel include sedans and SUVs (45%), RVs (35%), and pickup trucks (20%).
How long can you be a snowbird?
U.S.-based snowbirds can spend indefinite periods of time in their desired, south-bound locations. With foreign nationals, the most common being Canadians, it is up to 180 days, or four months before having to return to their original destination.
How long can a snowbird stay in the U.S.?
Three to four months within a calendar year without a visa extension. For Canadian citizens, the same four-month window applies; however, that could soon be prolonged with the coming legislation changes.
Average market price ranges and factors determining them
Price and cost are one of the main concerns for new and veteran snowbirds. There is no truly fixed rate as the prices are determined by more than 15 factors at once. However, here are some realistic estimates for the average market price ranges, depending on distance:
- Short distance (0–500 miles): $400–$800
- Medium distance (500–1,500 miles): $800–$1,200
- Cross-country (more than 1,500 miles): $1,200–$2,000
There are four key factors that determine the actual price of your snowbird vehicle transport:
- Factor 1 – Distance and route: As seen above, longer distances cost more, though when calculated, they cost less per mile than shorter auto shipping.
- Factor 2 – Seasonal availability: The snowbird season is linked to a 30% increase in demand on several routes. The sooner you book, the lower your cost will be.
- Factor 3 – Transport variant (enclosed vs. open): Open carriers are more common and more affordable, however, are not suitable for low clearance cars. Enclosed trailers are more accommodating, however, they cost more per mile.
- Factor 4 – Vehicle condition: If your car runs and drives, it’s easier to load and unload, thus nor requiring specialized equipment.
Common snowbird routes in the U.S.
The data and statistics of the industry trends were provided by American car shipping companies SGT Auto Transport and Axis Auto Logistics that offer cross-country vehicle transportation solutions. Current research is based on the data from seasonal migration of Americans from beginning of 2024 till end of 2025. More than 100,000 cars were shipped during this period which allowed us to have a better analysis of this seasonal migration trend in general as well as go deeper into details such as demographics and periodicity.
Based on the analysed data provided by SGT Auto Transport and Axis Auto Logistics snowbirds are not afraid of the distance; some people travel up to 2,800 miles to reach their desired destination. Тhe longest common snowbird route is from New York City to San Diego (2,759 miles). For those who are Gulf Coast bound, the I-10 seems to be the most widely preferred artery. As one of the longest interstate highways, the I-10’s main termination points for snowbirds are: Tucson, San Diego, Palm Springs and Phoenix.
Auto transport trends in the American snowbird wave
Snowbird migration is seasonal, and the trends found, reflect the fluctuations between November to December. These are the most common times of year for snowbirds to start moving from colder, to warmer climates. This, on one hand, is a boon for the auto transport industry, but for regular customers, not so much.
The rise in demand during early winter (November through December) leads to higher prices along the north–south corridors. The most heavily affected routes are from Boston to Tampa, Ontario to Florida, Philadelphia to Florida Keys.
Due to the spike in demand, industry leads also report driver and courier shortages which create a bottleneck, prolong delivery times and further exacerbate the price increase.
Southbound shipments rise approximately 30% in Q4 vs. summer baseline
As the temperatures in the northern states start to drop, there’s a noticeable correlation between increased snowbird migration patterns and increased southbound shipments. Many retirees and seasonal travelers start heading south to states like Florida, Arizona, Texas, Nevada, California and the Carolinas. Many prefer not to drive, but instead opt for professional auto transport services.
The north to south car shipment trends start from October and end in December. The direction of the migration reverses in spring, spurred on both by the warmer climate and by certain tax and visa requirements.
This leaves a summer lull window which is considered the baseline of demand, and the difference is 30% from peak seasons.
Where do most snowbirds go? From the Midwest to the Sunbelt: U.S. migration routes
- I-75 Corridor (“Snowbird Highway”): Michigan / Ohio / Ontario → Florida.
- I-95 South: New York / Pennsylvania / New Jersey → Florida & Carolinas.
- I-35 / I-10: Kansas / Missouri / Iowa → Texas.
- I-10 / I-17: Washington / Idaho / Montana → Arizona & California.
- Canada → U.S.: Ontario / Quebec → Florida; Alberta → Arizona / Texas.
Why Americans move south every winter
The term “snowbirds” refers to Americans and Canadians who migrate south for the winter. Each year, an estimated 1 to 1.5 million people spend the colder months in Florida alone, with other popular destinations including Arizona, Texas, and Southern California. Most snowbirds head south in October or November and return north between March and April. Their motivations range from seeking a milder climate and lower living costs to improving health, enjoying recreation, and embracing a more relaxed lifestyle. Stays typically last anywhere from three weeks to six months, depending on housing arrangements or RV setups.
Are you familiar with the term “snowbirds?” Americans who live in far Northern states like Minnesota, Michigan, upstate New York or New England regularly have to deal with some pretty extreme winter weather. That means subzero temperatures and sometimes a couple of feet of snow, which might remain for weeks before it starts to melt, making travel and everything else a lot more difficult.
Snowbirds are the people from these cold Northern climes who prefer to spend the winter months in a part of the country that’s warmer and more hospitable, with no blizzards, no ice storms and low temperatures in the 40s (at worst). The numbers are astonishing: they show that in Florida alone, somewhere between a million and a million and a half people relocate there for the winter.
Most people leave in October or November, when things are just starting to get colder, and might come back in March or April as spring sets in. Snowbirds don’t just go to Florida; Arizona, Texas and Southern California are also popular destinations for the snowbird crowd. Wherever they end up going, they’re going to need their vehicles there with them, and that’s where snowbird car shipping comes into the picture.
In the following sections, we’ll explore car transport options for snowbirds and explain how to choose the best approach for your vehicle and travel needs.
Top U.S. cities for seasonal migration
Florida: Venice, Naples, Fort Myers, Sarasota, Tampa Bay
Florida is probably the state that’s most associated with snowbird migration (as noted with that 1 million to 1.5 million number mentioned above). It’s warm and humid, so warm that temperatures rarely dip below freezing in the winter, and the culture and nightlife of cities like Tampa Bay, Venice, Naples, Fort Myers and Sarasota cater to the state’s temporary residents.
Arizona: Mesa, Scottsdale, Tucson, Yuma
The Southwest is a lot more arid than Florida, and the dry air and climate are a real attraction for a lot of snowbirds. Cities like Mesa, Scottsdale, Tucson and Yuma are popular winter homes for plenty of Northerners, with temporary rentals, RV parks and other features that make them attractive places to spend the winter.
Texas: Brownsville, McAllen (Rio Grande Valley), Laredo
Texas is a big, big place that has everything from high plains to hill country, from red dirt to desert and mountains. The Rio Grande Valley includes cities like Brownsville, McAllen and Laredo, all of which have a distinctly different culture from other regions of the state (since they’re border towns with Mexico), and are all inviting spots for people who want to spend the colder months in Texas.
California: Palm Springs, Coachella Valley
Like Texas, California is a big place that’s very diverse in terms of climate, weather and topography. Cities like Palm Springs and Coachella were developed in the middle of the desert and they’re warm and arid year-round, with striking desert scenery and a unique culture and nightlife all their own.
South Carolina: Myrtle Beach, Hilton Head
The pace of life is slower and more relaxed in South Carolina, and spots like Myrtle Beach, Hilton Head and Pawley’s Island offer beachfront access, tennis, beautiful golf courses and a selection of restaurants, bars and nightlife that are really unique to the Southeast, making these areas a great alternative to spending the winter in Florida.
Utah: St. George
Austere and scenic, St. George has year-round sunshine and is a historic town that can trace its roots back to pioneer days. Bordering on Zion National Park, its stunning red rock terrain, mountains and desert valleys make it a great spot for snowbirds who love the outdoors and want to spend time hiking, mountain biking and exploring.
Venice, FL often ranked the No. 1 snowbird city; seven of the top 10 snowbird cities are in Florida
What’s the most popular destination city for snowbirds? That would be Venice, FL, a city that offers amenities and activities like kayaking, pickleball, golf, tennis, farmer’s markets and of course, plenty of beachfront for fishing, surfing and walks. Venice’s snowbird community also enjoys resort-style accommodations with fitness centers, swimming pools, onsite laundry and golf cart rentals.
Why Americans ship their cars south each winter
- Avoid long multi-day drives and winter weather risks
- Safer for older travelers; less stress and fatigue
- Keeps their own vehicle available for local mobility
- Average shipping cost: $500–$1,600 per vehicle (open carrier)
- Seasonal demand spikes: October to November (southbound) and March to April (northbound)
- Top shipping destinations: Florida, Arizona, Texas, California
Think about the challenge of driving from, say, Boston to Ft. Myers. It’s nearly a 1,500-mile drive, and while you could take I-95 for most of the route, the trip would take two to three days, including meals, breaks, overnight stays, and the expenses that come with them. That’s a lot of driving even for a younger driver. A drive like that is tiring and stressful and always has at least a certain element of risk involved, a risk that would be multiplied by having to deal with treacherous winter weather and road conditions. That’s not even taking into account the miles, the fuel costs and the wear and tear on the vehicle.
Snowbirds in winter destinations like Florida, Arizona, Texas or California really need their vehicles there with them. The alternatives would be taking Uber or taxis everywhere or renting a car, both of which would be prohibitively expensive, and having their own car with them means mobility and convenience that couldn’t be matched otherwise. When you take all that into account, the $500 to $1,600 in shipping costs per vehicle starts to look like a pretty solid value and one that just makes good sense for a lot of reasons.
What U.S. snowbirds pack in their vehicles
- Golf clubs, pickleball gear, and bicycles
- Clothing, electronics, and small home items
- Medications, medical equipment, and mobility aids
- Pet carriers, food, and toys
- For remote workers: laptops, monitors, and office supplies
Of course, spending a few months in a different location means that you’d need to have a bunch of your own stuff there with you. Snowbirds typically like to pack things like clothing, electronics and sporting goods like golf clubs or bicycles. Older snowbirds might want to pack medications, medical equipment or mobility aids along with their vehicles, and of course pets will need their pet taxis, food and toys. If you’re in the workforce and working remotely, it could mean bringing your laptop or office supplies along with you.
If you’re a snowbird planning to ship your car for the winter, you can bring up to 100 pounds of personal items, as long as they’re securely packed in a box or suitcase and stored in the trunk or cargo area.
Car shipping vs. driving for seasonal movers
Shipping:
- Cost: $799–$1,499
- Duration: 3–7 days
- Low stress and no vehicle wear
- Ideal for seniors, families, and multi-car households
Driving:
- Cost: $600–$1,200 (fuel, food, lodging)
- Duration: 2–4 days
- Exposure to winter hazards and fatigue
- Ideal for short-distance relocations
Let’s think about the numbers and weigh the pros and cons of driving vs auto transport.
As we noted in the example above, driving from a New England city to Florida would mean two to four days on the road, and that drive time would be a lot more stressful and dangerous if you had to deal with a blizzard or ice storm. For a vehicle that gets average fuel economy, costs could run anywhere from $600 to $1,200 after rolling food and lodging into the equation. That could be acceptable for a younger driver who doesn’t mind the challenge or for short-distance relocations, but many other snowbirds just find that to be too much of a hassle.
Now let’s compare that to a snowbird auto transport option. It could take as long as three to seven days to transport your car and prices would be a bit higher, typically $799 to $1,499 (as a rough estimate), but it also means no time spent driving, lower risks, less stress and no miles or wear and tear on the vehicle. With door to door transport, you could fly to your snowbird destination and your car would then be delivered to the doorstep of your winter home — or if the timing was right, you’d get there and your car would be there waiting for you. The whole process can then be reversed when it’s time to relocate back up north in the spring.

Top 10 Best Hair Transplant Clinics in Turkey for 2026
Around 42% of men worldwide are estimated to be bald or have significantly thinning hair with many of them resorting to the global epicenter of hair transplantation — Turkey. In 2024, over 1 million procedures were performed in the Eastern Mediterranean country, according to the International Society of Hair Restoration Surgery. With hair transplant costs 70% lower than in Western Europe or North America, Istanbul — with its cluster of specialized clinics — accounts for 80% of these operations. Yet, experts urge caution, underscoring the need for rigorous vetting in pursuit of the best hair transplant in Turkey.
Our Criteria for Ranking Hair Transplant Clinics
To compile this ranking of the top 10 best hair transplant clinics in Turkey, Reuters evaluated data drawn from clinic disclosures, third-party reviews, and medical association reports as of late 2025. This framework prioritizes clinics that balance an affordable hair transplant cost in Turkey with evidence-based excellence, excluding those with inconsistent aftercare or unverified claims. Facilities were ranked based on four key pillars:
- International awards and certifications, with special attention given to international bodies and medical commissions based in Europe and the U.S.
- Volume and quality of patient reviews, prioritizing official platforms with verification systems such as Google and TrustPilot
- Documented before-and-after outcomes, extracted from patients giving their explicit consent to appear on social media
- Adoption of advanced technologies, such as stem cells or robotic hair transplants
Verifying Credentials in 2026
While there are excellent medical experts in Turkey, patients should always remain cautious, especially in today’s online environment. Before trusting any provider, patients must prioritize due diligence to mitigate risks like infection, poor graft take or uneven results, which affect up to 10% of subpar procedures globally. Do not trust online images, banners or videos, as these could be spurious.
- Insist on a board-certified surgeon ideally from a member of the International Alliance of Hair Restoration Surgeons.
- Confirm the clinic's accreditation by the Joint Commission International (JCI) and the Turkish Ministry of Health.
- Demand transparent aftercare protocols, including post-op medications, follow-up consultations (virtual or in-person) and a graft survival guarantee.
- Conduct independent checks, cross-reference reviews, request patient references, and avoid deals that seem too good to be true.
Consulting a dermatologist at home can provide an unbiased second opinion about the quality of your hair transplant clinic in Turkey.
Top 10 Best Hair Transplant Clinics in Turkey
The list below confronts the strengths and weaknesses of the main hair transplant clinics in Istanbul, Turkey, ensuring patients can find the best hair transplant option for their hair loss.
1. Dr. Serkan Aygin Clinic
The Dr. Serkan Aygin Clinic tops this list for its unmatched blend of prestige and patient trust. Dr. Aygin was named Europe's Best Hair Transplant Surgeon in 2019 and 2022 by the European Awards in Medicine (Paris), recognizing his innovations in graft preservation and natural hairline design. Boasting the highest volume of verified reviews among peers (over 4,000 on Trustpilot alone with 4.9-star averages across more than 5,600 Google Reviews, totaling over 10,000 testimonials including RealSelf and WhatClinic), it outpaces competitors in consistent praise for transformative before-and-after results, showing 97% graft survival in audited cases. Unlike high-volume rivals that sometimes prioritize speed, Aygin's team limits daily procedures to 20 grafts per surgeon, ensuring meticulous implantation. At €2,500–€3,500, it's an accessible choice widely considered the best hair transplant in Turkey.
2. ASMED Clinic
World-renowned Dr. Koray Erdogan's ASMED pioneered robotic FUE (follicular unit extraction) in Turkey, with patients praising precision and VIP treatment. Its research-driven approach, including stem cell adjuncts, yields 97% survival rates, contrasting other clinics’ wellness focus with pure surgical innovation. Limited patient volumes keep reviews modest, but awards from the International Society of Dermatology affirm its elite status; expect €3,500 for bespoke plans.
3. Clinicana
JCI-accredited with 1,266 Trustpilot reviews (4.9 stars), Clinicana's strength is robust aftercare, including lifetime follow-ups — a rarity that edges out Aygin's six-month standard. Specializing in mega-sessions (up to 6,000 grafts), it delivers dense results for advanced baldness, though some patients note longer wait times. Pricing at €2,300 balances quality and enormous accessibility.
4. Dr. Emrah Cinik Clinic
With more than 3,700 Google reviews (4.8 stars), Cinik's scale enables rapid bookings and diverse techniques like OxyCure for oxygenation. Before-and-afters show strong female results, outshining most clinics in inclusivity, but occasional complaints about post-op swelling highlight variability absent in Aygin's controlled environment. At €2,000, it's a high-review, low-cost, high-volume, strong contender.
5. Estepera Clinic
Estepera's hybrid FUE-DHI (direct hair implantation) model garners over 900 reviews (4.7 stars on Google) with awards from Turkish health ministries for patient safety. It contrasts with other clinics’ tech-heavy ethos, it prioritizes manual artistry for ethnic hair types, achieving 94% density. Drawbacks include fewer international accolades, but €2,100 pricing and strong follow-ups make it reliable for cautious patients.
6. Vera Clinic
Vera Clinic excels in holistic care, earning the 2023 European Award for Best Hair Transplant Clinic in Turkey. With 1,688 Trustpilot reviews averaging 4.9 stars, patients rave about its DHI expertise and 98% satisfaction. Vera emphasizes integrated wellness, including PRP (platelet-rich plasma) therapy for faster recovery — ideal for women or afro-textured hair. However, its higher pricing (over €3,000) reflects broader services, making it less budget-friendly than other streamlined packages.
7. Cosmedica Clinic
Led by Dr. Levent Acar, a fluent English speaker with 16 years of experience in FUE, Cosmedica shines in AI-guided planning, yielding 95% natural results. Its edge over other doctors lies in celebrity endorsements and beard transplants, but fewer awards and a smaller review pool (under 1,000 total) place it lower. Packages start at €2,000, appealing to cost-conscious clients seeking tech-forward care.
8. Smile Hair Clinic
Awarded Best Clinic in Istanbul between 2021 and 2024 by regional medical boards, Smile Hair, backed by 3,552 Trustpilot reviews (4.9 stars), leverages Micro Sapphire FUE for minimal scarring. Before-and-after galleries highlight superior crown coverage compared to manual methods elsewhere, with 96% graft viability. Though it's capacity to handle up to 50 patients daily may not be optimal, at €2,200, it's a value leader for international travelers.
9. Elithair Clinic
A multinational chain with Turkish roots, Elithair's 1,200 reviews (4.8 stars) underscore its EU standards, including laser therapy for 96% graft take. Though less specialized in mega-sessions, it differs from other clinics by offering multi-city options, increasing access for Europeans. At €2,400, it's a solid mid-tier pick for seamless logistics.
10. Sule Hair Transplant
Rounding out the list, Sule's focus on affordable Sapphire FUE (over 700 reviews and 4.8 stars) delivers 95% results at €1,800, undercutting all the above. Lacking Aygin-level awards, it compensates with transparent pricing and solid aftercare, making it ideal for first-timers despite smaller-scale operations.
Conclusion
Turkey's hair transplant sector has solidified its global dominance, generating approximately $1 billion annually. Reputable clinics boast success rates of 90–99% in graft survival, aligning with international benchmarks like 95% for FUE and DHI. Yet, a permissive regulatory environment creates a "data black hole," with inconsistent complication reporting and quality variability across the more than 500 estimated clinics. Common pitfalls involve unsupervised technicians performing surgeries, over-harvesting donor sites, or bait-and-switch tactics where promised doctors are absent. Independent reviews and verifications remain essential. While low costs tempt, they often signal shortcuts; investing in vetted providers ensures lasting results. Ultimately, Turkey's industry offers unparalleled value for informed patients, but unchecked growth demands global standards and education to safeguard against preventable harms.

Is Your Business Infrastructure Ready for Always-On Intelligence?
Artificial intelligence continues to advance, and businesses follow suit because they must. Machines handle questions, predict outcomes, automate tasks, and optimize decisions in ways people cannot. Everything depends on the right digital backbone because intelligence stays on only when the system behind it never blinks.
So, when everything relies on AI, the real question arises: Can the wires, networks, and servers handle it without faltering?
The System Must Carry the Weight
An always-on intelligence setup needs specific building blocks that work together without pause. The core starts with compute power. Standard CPUs no longer handle AI jobs fast enough. Workloads like deep learning and real-time predictions run best on high-performance GPUs and TPUs. These chips process vast amounts of data faster and in parallel, which is crucial for AI models to function correctly.
Storage and network capacity must match the same pace. NVMe SSDs respond faster than traditional drives and support the heavy loads that training models often require. Object storage works well for unstructured data because it scales easily.
In finance, real-time processing depends on systems that move data quickly and respond without delay. This setup typically supports instant payments, smart approvals, automated checks, and continuous analysis without interruptions.
Structure Without Disruption
AI uses patterns in data to learn, and scattered records slow that process. A good system puts everything in one place. Central repositories work better because all teams share the same version of the truth.
MLOps tools manage every part of the AI workflow. From training to testing to deploying, the process flows in one direction without breaks. Containers play a big part here Tools like Kubernetes and Docker allow developers to package models and run them across environments without changing the code.
Security keeps the operation safe. Always-on intelligence creates more entry points, which means more places to protect. AI-based threat detection helps spot odd activity faster. Every endpoint stays protected. Access controls limit what each user can see or do. Compliance laws like the EU AI Act demand strict checks, so systems stay legal and secure at every step.
Where AI Lives Without Pauses
AI is present in daily routines in subtle ways. It recommends videos before the last one finishes. It suggests words while typing messages. Shopping websites sort products based on previous clicks. Even maps learn preferred paths over time. Games adjust their difficulty based on player behavior, and apps track performance in the background without issuing alerts.
In digital gaming and online casinos, AI shapes the whole journey. Interfaces adjust based on actions. Offers line up with timing and location. AI checks for security issues by reviewing activity patterns. Players get matched with games that fit their preferences. Real-time support answers questions without delay.
Platforms such as Maple Casino provide a wide selection of games, seasonal bonuses, and various payment options. AI comes in handy when users look for specific titles, compare offers, or want quicker responses during support chats. It helps recommend games based on past activity and brings faster access to the right sections, which improves the overall flow for returning visitors.
Machine learning systems help spot fraud, balance odds, and guide customer support. By reviewing data instantly, the platform makes adjustments before any delay affects users. Everything happens in real time because the structure under it allows for that speed and scale.
Checking What Comes First
Every setup starts with a goal. Some teams focus on automating reports, while others want better forecasts or faster answers. The design must follow that path. When the direction is clear, the rest of the system builds around it.
Data readiness speaks early. When the numbers match and the records link together, AI can learn fast. If information lines up across teams, results come quicker. Tools track gaps and bring reports that show what improves performance. Quality grows when rules stay firm.
Hardware audits show where change is needed. If the machines run hot under light loads, then AI tasks will push them further. When networks slow down under pressure, data piles up and performance drops. Upgrades target the exact points that affect results. This helps reduce waste and increase speed without changing everything at once.
What the Structure Really Tells
Always-on intelligence does not run on good ideas alone. The parts under the system carry real weight. Power, speed, consistency, and access make it work without pause. Machine learning is applied in games, tools, apps, and even digital gambling.
When everything behind the scenes connects well, AI moves fast and helps systems think without waiting. A business stands ready when the structure works just as hard as the model it supports.

Endolith Raises $13.5 Million to Unlock New Copper Supply Using AI-Powered Microbes
Endolith, a biological-intelligence platform using AI-guided microbes to extract copper and other critical minerals, announced it has closed an initial $13.5 million Series A, with an additional $3 million expected to close in a second tranche, following successful lab results with BHP and early commercial traction. The round was led by Squadra Ventures with participation from Draper Associates and other investors.
“Every technology, from EVs to AI data centers, depends on metals the world is running out of,” said Liz Dennett, Ph.D., CEO and founder of Endolith. “Our microbes turn mineralized material into new supply, building resilience in an industry that has not fundamentally changed in two hundred years.”
Copper demand continues to rise across electric vehicles, semiconductors and data centers, yet production cannot keep pace. New mines take more than a decade to develop, and much of the world’s 2.1 billion metric tons of known copper remains uneconomic to extract using traditional methods.
Endolith’s platform offers a faster path forward by letting microbes do the mining. Its engineered microbial systems, guided by real-time AI, recover metals from low-grade ores and mineralized materials that conventional methods leave behind. The result is faster, cleaner and more capital-efficient recovery that can extend the life of existing assets and unlock new supply without new excavation. Lab and pre-field testing have demonstrated copper recovery from mineralized waste and high-contaminant ores — such as copper-arsenic deposits — that are uneconomic to process using traditional methods. Early results indicate strong potential for higher recovery yields as the platform scales.
“Endolith is defining a new class of industrial biotech,” said Dan Madden, principal, Squadra Ventures. “By merging biology, data and industrial systems, Endolith is creating a scalable path to critical-mineral security. That supply-chain security is foundational to the technologies driving economic growth and human prosperity globally.”
“Collaborative Fund has been proud to back Endolith since its earliest days,” said Guy Vidra, partner, Collaborative Fund. “Liz and her team have moved from lab scale to field-ready at an astonishing pace. They’re proving that the intersection of biology and AI can solve some of the hardest industrial problems on the planet.”
Endolith’s technology has been validated through BHP’s Think & Act Differently innovation program and collaborations with Founders Factory and Arizona Lithium. The new funding will support Endolith’s transition from lab to field, expanding copper-recovery pilots, advancing AI-driven microbial optimization and growing its team across engineering, biology and field operations.
About Endolith
Endolith is a biological intelligence company transforming critical mineral recovery through engineered microbes and adaptive optimization. Its proprietary platform combines bioleaching with real-time data feedback to help mining companies extract more value from low-grade or complex ores cleanly, efficiently, and at scale. Dr. Liz Dennett founded Endolith with major producers to expand recovery across copper, lithium, and rare earths. Learn more at www.endolithmining.com.

Rival and Imperial Business School Unveil 'The Rival 50': The Leading Challenger Brands Redefining Modern Marketing
Rival, a fast-growing global marketing research and consulting firm, and Imperial Business School, the business school of Imperial College London, today announced the launch of The Rival 50, a new global index revealing the top 50 challenger brands that redefine the standard for success across today’s increasingly complex global marketing landscape.
The list analyzes and celebrates the brands that have challenged the conventions of their categories and engineered an outsized impact in both their competitive sectors and in the wider culture at large.
Built on over 10,000 hours of proprietary research and analysis conducted over the past four years, The Rival 50 is the first data-backed index to quantify which behaviors and characteristics define modern challenger brand identity. The framework used to evaluate each brand was based on three core components: differentiation, relevance, and talkability. The study encompasses the philosophies, workplace cultures, sense of mission and purpose, and the leadership styles that provide a holistic analysis of what makes each individual brand stand out from the rest of the corporate world.
“Our mission at Rival has always been to document the playbook of successful challenger brands in order to explain the specific strategies and methodologies that allow the Davids to take on the Goliaths,” said Eric Fulwiler, co-founder and CEO of Rival. “We designed the index to provide actionable insights and takeaways that any brand can apply or adapt to their own marketing plans to help grow their businesses through conviction, creativity, and community.”
The Rival 50 list will be unveiled on November 13 at the 2026 Web Summit that runs November 10–13 in Lisbon, Portugal, and released simultaneously online. The list includes both familiar and emerging brands and businesses based in the United States, South Korea, China, South Africa, Europe and the United Kingdom such as Liquid Death, Owala, Crocs, ChatGPT, Graza, Aldi, Buldak, Rhode, and Represent. The panel of jurors featured marketing industry superstars such as Fernando Machado (former CMO of Burger King), Kristen Cavallo (former CEO of MullenLowe) and Dean Aragón (CEO of Shell Brands and chairman of ANA).
The Rival 50 Index marks a milestone for the marketing industry and combines academic rigor with creative insights. It includes an in-depth research summary that offers five major trends that enable challenger brands to succeed:
- Belonging: The best challengers realize that community is not just a marketing channel but a way to cocreate new products and features with consumers.
- Ideological Distinction: In a world of sameness, conviction around a brand’s value systems and beliefs drives success. Neutrality no longer works in a hyperconnected world.
- Safety: The most successful challenger brands lower the temperature in a world defined by noise and fatigue. These brands offer a sense of reassurance in environments that thrive on pressure and complexity.
- Beyond the Commercial: Challenger thinking no longer belongs only to companies. It defines creators, athletes and fictional characters who build worlds people choose to live in — cultural operating systems.
- Media Amplification: The strongest brands think and behave and like media companies to flourish in the attention economy and design content ecosystems that never switch off.
Rival CEO Eric Fulwiler will be available for interviews at Web Summit or afterward. To arrange an interview with Fulwiler, Rival’s leadership team, or any of the featured brands, contact producer@wearerival.com.

Andreozzi + Foote Represents Survivors in Lawsuit Against Pyramid Healthcare, Inc., Dr. Christopher Davis, and CVS Healthcare Corporation
Andreozzi + Foote has filed a sweeping lawsuit against a former medical director accused of preying on the very patients he was hired to heal. In the lawsuit, fifteen women allege years of abuse, coercion, and medical misconduct by Dr. Christopher J. Davis.
The Pennsylvania-based firm, known nationally for representing sexual abuse survivors, outlines in the complaint how Pyramid Healthcare and CVS Health Corporation allegedly ignored years of warnings, red flags, and patient complaints that could have stopped Davis’s abuse before it spiraled into a criminal case now involving 92 charges of rape, assault, and extortion.
Davis was charged earlier this year by the Pennsylvania Attorney General’s Office with 92 criminal counts, including forcible rape, sexual assault and extortion, and the unlawful sale of controlled substances. Prosecutors say he exploited vulnerable female patients by coercing them into sexual acts in exchange for methadone, a life-sustaining medication used in opioid addiction recovery. His criminal case remains active in the Court of Common Pleas of York County.
The complaint, filed in the Court of Common Pleas of Dauphin County by Andreozzi + Foote, names Davis, Pyramid Healthcare, Inc., and CVS Health Corporation as defendants. It alleges negligence and institutional failures, including ignored patient complaints and red flags in prescribing patterns, that allowed Davis’s abuse to continue unchecked.
According to the complaint, Davis engaged in extreme, outrageous, and intolerable conduct by sexually assaulting patients under the threat of withholding their medications.
The fifteen plaintiffs describe a consistent pattern of coercion, sexual assault, and medical manipulation. Several women reported that Davis touched them inappropriately during exams, forced them to undress, or conducted unnecessary genital and breast examinations. Others said he sent sexually explicit text messages, took nude photographs of patients using his personal phone, and demanded sexual acts in exchange for continued treatment.
One survivor alleged that Davis raped her multiple times, including at his private medical office and at a local hotel, after threatening to withhold her prescriptions if she refused to comply. Another discovered that photographs taken without her consent were later posted publicly on social media.
Multiple patients reported Davis’s misconduct to their counselors at Pyramid Healthcare, but no action was taken, according to the lawsuit. One counselor allegedly admitted that Davis had been accused of inappropriate behavior before, yet the company failed to investigate or protect patients from further harm.
The lawsuit accuses Pyramid Healthcare of negligence and reckless supervision, alleging it kept Davis employed despite numerous warning signs.
“We believe this was not a hidden pattern. Women spoke up. The staff heard them. Pyramid Healthcare had every opportunity to act and chose not to. Their failure had devastating consequences," said Benjamin Andreozzi, partner at Andreozzi + Foote.
The complaint notes that a reasonable background check would have revealed Davis’s history of criminal charges and disciplinary action, including a prior license suspension for manipulating the body of a deceased patient and stealing controlled substances from a former employer.
The lawsuit also names CVS Health Corporation for alleged negligence in dispensing prescriptions. According to the complaint, despite excessive dosages, dangerous drug combinations, and clear red flags of misuse, CVS pharmacies in York, PA, repeatedly filled Davis’s prescriptions without adequate review or intervention. This conduct, according to the suit, enabled his continued medical and sexual abuse of patients.
Andreozzi + Foote’s lawsuit seeks compensatory and punitive damages to hold Davis, Pyramid Healthcare, and CVS Health Corporation accountable. The firm is also calling for broader accountability across addiction treatment centers.
“Addiction treatment should be a place of safety, not fear. Our clients trusted Pyramid with their recovery. Instead, they were met with exploitation and silence. We intend to send a clear message that accountability matters and that looking the other way is never acceptable," Andreozzi said.
Frequently Asked Questions
What should I do if I believe I’ve experienced sexual abuse or exploitation by a medical professional or treatment provider?
If you believe you’ve been sexually abused, coerced, or exploited by a doctor, counselor, or healthcare provider, you should report it immediately and seek legal guidance. Contact law enforcement or the Pennsylvania Attorney General’s Office to file a complaint, and preserve any evidence such as text messages, photographs, or medical records. Andreozzi + Foote represents survivors of sexual and institutional abuse nationwide and can confidentially review your situation to help determine your legal options.
Who is Dr. Christopher J. Davis and what is he accused of?
Davis is a former medical director at Pyramid Healthcare’s methadone treatment center in York County, Pennsylvania. He has been charged by the Pennsylvania Attorney General’s Office with 92 criminal counts, including rape, sexual assault, extortion, and unlawful sale of controlled substances. Prosecutors allege Davis coerced female patients into sex in exchange for methadone, an addiction-recovery medication.
What are the main allegations in the civil lawsuit?
The civil complaint filed by Andreozzi + Foote alleges that Davis sexually assaulted and exploited patients by threatening to withhold their methadone treatments. It further accuses Pyramid Healthcare and CVS Health Corporation of negligence and institutional failures, including ignoring patient complaints and prescription red flags that allowed Davis’s abuse to continue unchecked.
How were Pyramid Healthcare and CVS Health allegedly involved?
The lawsuit claims Pyramid Healthcare failed to act despite multiple warnings and staff reports of inappropriate behavior, keeping Davis employed despite prior disciplinary actions and criminal history. CVS Health Corporation is accused of repeatedly filling Davis’s prescriptions for excessive and dangerous drug combinations, ignoring clear signs of misuse and enabling the continuation of his misconduct.
What kind of misconduct are survivors describing?
Fifteen women reported a pattern of sexual coercion, unwanted touching, and invasive medical exams. Several say Davis took nude photos, sent explicit texts, and demanded sexual acts in exchange for continued treatment. One survivor alleges she was raped multiple times; another discovered explicit photos of her had been posted online without consent.
What is Pyramid Healthcare?
Pyramid Healthcare, Inc. operates addiction recovery and mental health treatment centers across Pennsylvania. The lawsuit claims that the company ignored repeated patient reports and failed to protect vulnerable women in its care from its own medical director’s misconduct.
Why is CVS Health named in the lawsuit?
CVS Healthcare Corporation is named for alleged negligence in dispensing controlled substances prescribed by Davis. The complaint says CVS pharmacists repeatedly filled suspicious prescriptions despite excessive dosages and drug combinations, in violation of safe-dispensing standards.
What damages or outcomes does the lawsuit seek?
Andreozzi + Foote seeks compensatory and punitive damages for the fifteen plaintiffs and broader accountability across addiction-treatment institutions. The firm aims to establish stronger oversight and institutional responsibility to prevent similar abuses.
What is the status of the criminal case against Dr. Davis?
The criminal case remains active in the Court of Common Pleas of York County, Pennsylvania. Davis faces 92 charges and has not yet been convicted.
Who represents the survivors in this lawsuit?
The plaintiffs are represented by Andreozzi + Foote, a Pennsylvania-based law firm nationally recognized for its work on behalf of sexual abuse survivors in cases against powerful institutions, including churches, schools, and healthcare systems.

Top 10 Laser Eye Surgery Clinics in Turkey
There’s a unique kind of frustration that only glasses-wearers know: the fogging-up when you open a hot oven, the panic of not finding them on your nightstand, and the endless expense of contact lenses. And then there's the other side of the coin: the slow, frustrating "fog" of developing cataracts, where the world just isn't as sharp as it used to be.
For decades, we’ve just accepted this. But what if you didn't have to?
Welcome to Turkey, the undisputed global center for high-tech ophthalmology (that's eye surgery, by the way). In 2025, Istanbul and other Turkish cities are where the world comes to get its vision back. We're talking about technology that's often ahead of the U.S. and UK, surgeons with tens of thousands of procedures under their belts, and prices that make you question why you ever paid for designer frames.
But here's the catch. When a country is this good at something, the number of choices is dizzying. Every clinic flashes a JCI-accreditation and claims to be the "best." How do you sort the true innovators from the high-volume marketing machines?
You’re in the right place. We’ve sifted through the noise to find the clinics that offer real, life-changing results. This isn't just a list of the biggest names; it's a curated guide to the 2025 vision experts, from the high-tech titans to the specialist surgeons you need to know.
Before the List: You Need to Speak the Language
You can’t make a good choice without knowing the tech. "Laser" isn't just one thing. Here’s the 2025 breakdown:
- LASIK: This is the famous one. A high-precision (femtosecond) laser creates a tiny flap in the cornea, another laser (excimer) reshapes the tissue underneath, and the flap is laid back down. The "wow" factor? You can often see 20/20 the very next day.
- SMILE (Small Incision Lenticule Extraction): This is the next generation. It’s "flapless." A single laser creates a tiny, lens-shaped piece of tissue (a lenticule) inside the cornea, which is then removed through a keyhole incision. It’s less invasive, which is a huge plus.
- PRK/LASEK (No-Flap): These are the original workhorses. Instead of a flap, the cornea's thin outer layer (epithelium) is gently removed. The laser reshapes the surface. The epithelium grows back. Recovery is longer (a few days of discomfort), but it’s the gold standard for patients with thin corneas or high-impact lifestyles.
What about cataracts? This isn't laser correction; it's lens replacement. The cloudy, old natural lens is removed and replaced with a high-tech intraocular lens (IOL). The big choice you'll make is:
- Monofocal IOLs: Give you perfect distance vision, but you'll still need reading glasses.
- Multifocal/trifocal IOLs: The "premium" option. These marvels of technology are designed to give you clear vision at all distances — near, intermediate, and far. This is how people "get rid of" their reading glasses and cataracts at the same time.
The 2025 Guide: Turkey's Top 10 Eye Clinics
1. Aslı Tarcan Global
Aslı Tarcan Clinic has become one of the most preferred centers in Turkey for eye health, thanks to its advanced laser technologies and team of experienced specialists offering LASIK and cataract treatments.
With personalized LASIK procedures that provide permanent solutions for vision problems such as myopia, hyperopia, and astigmatism, and highly successful cataract surgeries using phacoemulsification and trifocal smart lens technology, the clinic ensures patients experience fast and comfortable recovery. These innovative and patient-centered approaches have made Aslı Tarcan Clinic not only a national leader but also a top international choice for advanced eye care.
Why are they number one? Experience and technology. They possess every imaginable, advanced diagnostic and surgical equipment for cataract treatment Turkey. For the enthusiastic patient seeking the absolute assurance of a large, proven, and internationally recognized brand, Aslı Tarcan is the safest and most reliable option on the market.
2. Veni Vidi Göz
While Dünyagöz is the "new" giant, Veni Vidi is the "original" master. With over thirty years of experience, this group has been a pillar of Turkish ophthalmology since the beginning. They don't have the same flashy international marketing, but their reputation within Turkey is impeccable. They are known for their highly experienced, tenured surgeons who are masters of both LASIK and complex cataract surgeries using premium multifocal lenses. It’s a classic, trusted choice.
3. Batigöz
Operating high-tech hospitals in key locations like Istanbul and Izmir, BATI GÖZ has built a fantastic reputation. They are JCI-accredited and known for investing heavily in the latest-generation laser platforms (like the Schwind Amaris). Their patient services for internationals are top-notch with a focus on a smooth, all-inclusive package from airport pickup to your final check-up. They are a major competitor to the bigger brands and deliver world-class results.
4. Prof. Dr. Afsun Şahin (Private Practice)
Sometimes you don't want a "brand;" you want a single, dedicated artist. Prof. Dr. Afsun Şahin is an academic and a highly respected surgeon who specializes in complex corneal and refractive surgery. Choosing a private professor's clinic like this offers a different, more personal experience. The consultation, the surgery, and the follow-up are all with the professor herself. For those who value a one-on-one, high-level academic approach, this is a phenomenal choice.
5. Istanbul Surgery Hospital (Eye Department)
Here’s an "insider" choice. The Istanbul Surgery Hospital is a JCI-accredited, multi-disciplinary hospital, and its ophthalmology department is a gem. Why is this a smart move? Because a full-service hospital has incredibly strict standards of care, anesthesia, and hygiene that smaller clinics might not. Their eye department, led by experienced surgeons, benefits from this rigorous, hospital-wide quality control. They are particularly strong in cataract procedures for older patients who may have other health considerations.
6. Dr. Sinan Göker (Private Practice)
If you want to talk about experience, you have to talk about Dr. Göker. He is, quite literally, one of the pioneers of laser eye surgery in Turkey. He's been performing these procedures since the 1990s and has been at the forefront of every new technological leap. His private clinic in Istanbul is a center of excellence, attracting patients who want to be treated by one of the "founding fathers" of the industry. His expertise is legendary.
7. Kudret Göz Group
With modern hospitals in Istanbul, Ankara, and even in Europe, Kudret Göz is a major player that often flies under the international radar. They have a massive volume of experience, particularly in both LASIK/SMILE and advanced cataract surgery. Their strength lies in their efficiency and their adoption of the latest diagnostic systems to ensure every patient is matched with the perfect procedure for their unique eyes.
8. Dr. Mahmut Kaskaloğlu (Kaskaloğlu Eye Hospital, Izmir)
If you're looking for an excuse to visit the beautiful coastal city of Izmir, this is it. Dr. Kaskaloğlu founded this hospital, and it's one of the most respected specialty eye centers outside of Istanbul. It’s a family-run institution built on a reputation for ethical, patient-first care. They are fully equipped for everything from SMILE to complex cataract and retina surgeries, offering a world-class alternative to the Istanbul hustle.
9. Ethica Hospital (Eye Department)
Ethica is part of a larger, well-regarded healthcare group (Estethica) that is very popular with international patients. Its eye department is a powerhouse, equipped with Zeiss and Alcon technology for a full spectrum of refractive surgeries. Because they are part of a larger aesthetic group, they are experts in the international patient experience — seamless, comfortable, and stress-free with no language barriers.
10. Acıbadem Hospitals Group (Ophthalmology)
Finally, we have another one of Turkey's "super-brands" in healthcare. Acıbadem is a JCI-accredited, university-affiliated hospital group. Choosing their ophthalmology department means you are being treated in an academic, research-driven environment. Their surgeons are often also professors and researchers, on the cutting edge of new techniques. This is an excellent choice for complex cases, revisions, or for patients who simply want the highest level of academic and medical rigor.
Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ) About Eye Surgery in Turkey
How much does LASIK cost in Turkey in 2025?
It varies, but you can expect a high-quality LASIK or SMILE procedure in 2025 to cost between $1,500 and $3,500 for both eyes. This often includes consultation, surgery, and post-op meds. Be very suspicious of any clinic advertising "LASIK for $500."
How much for premium cataract surgery?
This is more complex because the cost is in the lens (IOL). For a premium trifocal/multifocal lens (to eliminate reading glasses), expect to pay $2,000 to $5,000 per eye. Standard monofocal lenses are much cheaper.
Is it actually safe?
Yes, if you choose wisely. The clinics on this list are JCI-accredited and use FDA/CE-approved technology. The safety and success rates in these top-tier clinics are on par with, or even exceed, the best clinics in the United States or Europe. The key is to avoid the "bargain basement" clinics.
How long is the recovery?
This is the amazing part. For LASIK Turkey or SMILE, most patients are back to normal (and seeing clearly) within 24 to 48 hours. For PRK/LASEK, it's about 4 to 7 days of discomfort. Cataract surgery recovery is also very fast; vision is clearer the next day, though it can take a few weeks to fully stabilize.
Am I a good candidate for LASIK?
You must be over 18 (preferably over 21), have a stable prescription for at least one year, and have no other eye diseases. The most important factor is your cornea thickness, which is measured at your free consultation.

Its patient satisfaction rate has been steadily increasing, making it one of the most promising clinics for those seeking high-quality results with a modern, technology-driven approach.
Frequently Asked Questions
Why has Turkey become the global hub for hair transplants?
Turkey’s success in medical tourism stems from its combination of affordable pricing, experienced surgeons, and advanced infrastructure. Many of the country’s clinics meet European medical standards, and Istanbul has become a global hub for both surgical and regenerative aesthetic treatments. The volume of successful transplants has allowed Turkish specialists to refine their techniques beyond what is commonly available elsewhere.
What is the main difference between FUE and DHI?
FUE involves extracting hair follicles one by one and implanting them into the recipient area, while DHI uses a special implanter pen that places grafts directly without creating prior channels. DHI allows greater precision in angle and depth, often resulting in denser, more natural outcomes, although it can be more time-consuming and costly.
What makes Capilclinic stand out from other clinics?
Capilclinic leads through innovation. Its stem cell hair transplant and AI-powered diagnosis system enable unmatched precision in treatment planning. Moreover, its transparent approach, European accreditation, and ongoing patient care have earned it exceptional trust among international patients.
How much does a hair transplant cost in Turkey in 2026?
The average cost ranges between €1,800 and €3,500, depending on technique, number of grafts, and surgeon expertise. Premium clinics like Capilclinic or Asmed tend to charge more but offer long-term guarantees and superior results.
How long does recovery take?
Most patients can resume normal activities within a few days. Initial shedding occurs within the first month, followed by gradual growth. Noticeable improvement typically starts around 4 months, with full results visible between 9 and 12 months after surgery.
Can women undergo hair transplants?
Yes, an increasing number of women choose hair transplants to address thinning hair or receding hairlines. Techniques such as DHI and stem cell transplants are especially suited for female patients because they preserve existing hair and achieve natural coverage without shaving the head.
Are results permanent?
Yes. Transplanted hair follicles are genetically resistant to hair loss. With proper care and healthy lifestyle habits, the results can last a lifetime. Clinics such as Capilclinic and Dr. Serkan Aygin Clinic also provide long-term follow-ups to ensure continued density and growth.
Is financing or payment in installments available?
Many Turkish clinics, especially those catering to international patients, offer flexible payment options or financing through partner institutions. Packages often include flights, hotel stays, and all necessary medical services, providing significant savings compared to similar procedures in Western Europe.
About Capilclinic
Capilclinic is a leading global medical clinic recognized for its world-class team and state-of-the-art facilities. Trusted as a top destination for hair transplants in Turkey, Capilclinic is led by internationally certified surgeons with more than 15 years of experience. Eveon Containers Launches New Resource to Simplify Buying Used Shipping Containers
Eveon Containers, the nation’s leading online provider of used shipping containers, has launched an innovative retail pricing index and market trends dashboard — marking an industry first and reinforcing its role as a technology pioneer in the container marketplace.
The new platform delivers historic retail pricing and market trends for decommissioned 20-foot and 40-foot containers, leveraging over 60 million data points dating back to 2022. The Market Monitor, Powered by Eveon Containers, offers unprecedented transparency in a market traditionally known for opaque pricing.
By leveraging digital innovation and data-driven insights, the technology company with offices in Charleston, South Carolina and Rotterdam, The Netherlands, aims to empower businesses with the knowledge and tools they need to make informed purchasing decisions. The complimentary dashboard reinforces Eveon’s commitment to clarity, fairness and efficiency, ensuring customers have a clear visibility into pricing fluctuations for shipping containers nationwide.
The availability of shipping containers, which facilitate roughly 90% of global trade, is subject to fluctuations in import and export volumes and geopolitical shifts. These dynamics in the availability of used shipping containers consequently influence container pricing. Eveon’s new platform removes the mystery of this market, offering historical nationwide and local pricing data and 24/7 purchasing capabilities, all designed to put customers in control and accelerate the container procurement process.
"The shipping container market for storage is driven by differences in pricing per location and volatility over time that can leave customers confused,” said Aad Storm, CEO of Eveon Containers. “As a technology-driven platform, we prioritize direct access to market insights, inventory and data throughout the buying process. Similar to former disrupters in the retail market, like Kelley Blue Book (Autotrader) with the launch of the Market Monitor, Eveon looks to equip buyers with the knowledge of regional and local pricing and availability they need to make informed, confident decisions.”
For more information on the Market Monitor, Powered by Eveon Containers, or to check retail container averages in your area, visit www.eveoncontainers.com/en-US/market-monitor.

Top 6 Tools to Find the Right Credit Card in Canada
For many Canadians, a credit card is the ultimate shopping companion. Countless cards come with rewards programs that optimize common expenses, travel perks that upgrade every trip, and coverage that protects purchases, personal belongings, and more. The most important aspect of any card is that it caters to your financial lifestyle. But how do you find the best Canadian credit card for your spending habits?
Rather than going in blind and opting for whatever is offered by your bank, you can make use of credit card finding tools to filter, compare, and rank your top contenders. To uncover the top six tools to find the right credit card in Canada, keep reading.
FinlyWealth
The top tool to find the right credit card in Canada comes from FinlyWealth.
FinlyWealth’s credit card comparison tool was tediously crafted by its founders to offer the most accurate reward calculations for credit cards. The tool uses a comprehensive algorithm to calculate your top credit card picks based on your unique spending habits, backed by tons of blog content and credit card reviews.
To jumpstart this process, users can either link their bank account to sync up spending patterns, or manually input how much they spend on common categories each month.
Calculator categories include:
- Food
- Groceries
- Gas
- Transportation
- Recurring Purchases
- Travel and more
What makes these filters stand out is the fact that FinlyWealth allows you to edit details and provide a more in-depth look at where you’re spending your money in each category. For example, in the grocery tab, you can input how much you spend on groceries at specific retailers like Costco, Sobeys, Loblaws, Walmart, Whole Foods, and more. This feature is important because while there are many cards that optimize grocery purchases, not all retailers are coded as an eligible grocery merchant for select cards. For example, only Mastercard tends to code Walmart grocery purchases as “groceries.” Additionally, Mastercard is the only card network accepted at Costco. In short, many competing comparison tools overlook these nuances, and while many other tools allow you to input your grocery spending, few allow you to go into such detail.
Beyond spending categories, FinlyWealth’s Canadian credit card comparison tool also allows you to provide credit card preferences, like whether you prefer cashback or points, annual fee or no fee cards, or even if you’re strictly looking for options with rebates.
To break things down even further, users can input their credit and income information, preferred institutions or payment networks, and any coverage or benefits they’d like featured on the card.
In addition to using the credit card comparison tool, users can also take advantage of FinlyWealth’s Credit Card Recommendation Quiz, offering knowledgeable results in just minutes.
The best part? FinlyWealth’s tools are free and easy to use — no subscription or log in necessary.
Kevin Shahnazari, financial expert and founder of FinlyWealth, explains why selecting a complementary credit card is so important for Canadians: “Not using the right credit card costs the average Canadian around $800 a year in missed rewards and benefits, while larger families can lose over $1,500 annually.” He further emphasizes how easy it is to miss out on a high-value card. “With so many credit card options available, each offering different perks, categories, and point systems, most people end up leaving money on the table without realizing it.” To remedy this issue, Shahnazari concludes, “Taking the time to review and optimize your credit cards every once in a while is one of the simplest ways to make your spending work harder for you.”
Ultimately, that’s where FinlyWealth’s credit card comparison tool comes in, narrowing the search so Canadians can extract the most value out of their expenses, leaving nothing behind.
Hardbacon
Hardbacon also hones in on where users spend their money to generate results. Their credit card comparison tool incorporates filters for:
- Province
- Network preference
- Card type preference
- User type (business, personal, student etc.)
- Special features (no annual fee, long interest-free periods, guaranteed approval etc.)
- Currency
- Credit score
- Insurance
- Institution
- And, of course, expense categories
Still, while Hardbacon provides expense categories like groceries, gas, dining, vacations, and more, they don’t break down these categories individually, like FinlyWealth. Additionally, users are unable to link their bank account for optimized rankings.
Regardless, with a catalog of over 150 cards and decent search tools, Hardbacon is a good secondary or starting point for Canadians in search of their next credit card.
To support your search, Hardbacon also boasts a credit card menu that incorporates tons of blog content.
Smartcanucks
Smartcanucks provides a variety of filters in their credit card comparison tool as well. In addition to asking for your preferred bank, network, and sorting method, their calculator filters for:
- Preferred rewards
- Fee structures
- Card tiers
- Card type
- Special features (think best for low interest, foreign currency, balance transfers and more)
While the above categories are useful, this tool lacks expense categories, an extremely important determinant.
Smartcanucks also only features a catalogue of 95 credit cards, which is lower than other competitors on this list.
Again, while Smartcancucks might be a good place to start your credit card search, the most accurate results come from comparison tools from platforms like FinlyWealth.
Money.ca
Money.ca also includes a credit card comparison tool that compares over 140 credit cards in Canada.
To generate results, this tool asks for:
- Your credit score
- Card type preference
- Issuer preference
- Your income
- A maximum annual fee
- Network preference
While the card type filter kind of covers spender profiles, the addition of expense categories, where you can input monthly spending values, would be very beneficial, as seen on competitor sites.
That said, Money.ca’s credit card comparison tool is supported by other resources like credit card guides and best credit card pages that compile card lists, card reviews, card benefits, and more.
Still, Money.ca has built a thorough unbiased scoring system for Canadians to sift through, making it a great supplementary tool to more comprehensive credit card comparison tools, like FinlyWealth.
Milesopedia
Milesopedia allows users to compare credit cards with a questionnaire-style generator.
First, visitors are asked whether they want a rewards credit card or a low-interest credit card. Follow-up questions depend on which card type you choose. For example, if you chose Rewards, you’ll then be asked what kind of rewards you’d like to collect: cashback, travel, or all. After this, you have to provide your income, followed by how much you spend on your card per month. Finally, hit “see results” to generate your lineup of top contenders.
You can also make use of the filters below this questionnaire, which asks you for personal information and card preferences.
Of course, this tool could benefit from an expense category to really narrow down ideal cards based on spending habits, something we see done most extensively by FinlyWealth. However, the site’s blog content bulks up the user experience and adds guidance for curious card hunters.
Insureye
Insureye offers two credit card comparison tools to match Canadians with their ideal contender: the Travel and Insurance tool and the Rewards and Value tool.
The Travel and Insurance tool compares 20 credit card features, including coverage, rates, purchase security, and warranty. The tool also offers a closer look into each benefit and insurance category, breaking down values, limitations, and exclusions.
To use this tool, you need to sign up for a free Credit Card Navigator trial, making the platform less accessible upfront.
The Rewards and Value tool compares credit cards based on the value of their rewards, their fees, and interest. The goal of this tool is to help Canadians understand which card saves them the most money at the end of the month.
As of now, Insureye’s Rewards and Value tool links out to Ratehub. Ratehub provides a CardFinder tool that prompts users to fill out a questionnaire that asks about your preferred reward type, how much you spend in a typical month, which coverage and benefit features are important to you, and your eligibility (such as your credit score and income). After you input all of the above information, the tool lists your top contenders.
While this tool is certainly helpful, it merely asks for monthly spending estimates rather than exact spending amounts and it doesn’t ask about categorical spending at all.
Overall, Insureye’s featured credit card comparison tools offer a good starting point, but they aren’t nearly as comprehensive as FinlyWealth.
The Verdict
While all featured credit card finder tools provide Canadians with insightful credit card options based on a variety of filters, no one does it quite like FinlyWealth.
FinlyWealth tops this list on account of its accuracy, using the most comprehensive reward filters to generate personalized results based on daily spending habits. To streamline this process, users can also link their bank account to rank their top picks.
The runner-ups on this list still offer a good resource for Canadians seeking their ideal credit card and can be used in conjunction with FinlyWealth.
At the end of the day, however, if you had to pick just one credit card comparison tool out of the six featured on this list, the choice is obvious.

Jury Awards $118 Million to Victims of Watson Grinding Explosion, 3M Held Partially Liable
A Harris County jury has awarded more than $118 million to seven victims of the 2020 Watson Grinding and Manufacturing explosion, finding 3M Company liable for its role in the catastrophic blast that killed three people and destroyed hundreds of homes in West Houston.
The verdict follows a two-week trial and three days of deliberation in a Harris County District Court.
Evidence at trial showed that 3M was paid to service and maintain gas detection equipment over a two-year period at the Watson Grinding facility but did not perform the work consistent with the standard of care. Multiple 3M representatives admitted on the stand that they failed to do what they promised, thereby breaking a promise not only to Watson Grinding, but to the surrounding community that relied on those safety systems.
“The lead service technician admitted on the stand that 3M broke its promise to the community. This verdict is a public indictment of corporate indifference. 3M built its reputation on safety, yet its own conduct contributed to one of Houston’s deadliest explosions. This jury made clear that even the most powerful corporations will be held accountable,” Will Moye of Moye Law Firm said, who represented the plaintiffs alongside Rob Kwok, founding partner of Kwok Daniel LLP, and Ryan Loya of Kwok Daniel LLP.
Jurors assigned 3M the same share of fault (49%) as Watson Grinding itself, which had invoked the Fifth Amendment during the trial.
Earlier this year, Moye, Kwok and Loya also secured a $37.9 million verdict against 3M and Teledyne-Detcon on behalf of five other residents affected by the same explosion. More than 900 additional claims remain pending.
The explosion occurred on January 24, 2020, when a propylene gas leak ignited at the Watson Grinding facility near Gessner and Clay Roads, leveling homes across northwest Houston. In 2023, U.S. Bankruptcy Judge Marvin Isgur approved a $52 million insurance settlement for some victims.
3M Company has not yet publicly commented on the verdict.
Background on the Watson Grinding explosion
The Watson Grinding and Manufacturing explosion occurred when a propylene gas leak ignited at the facility in northwest Houston, sending a massive fireball through the neighborhood. The blast killed three employees, injured many others, and caused an estimated $200 million in property damage.
About the plaintiffs’ legal team
Kwok Daniel LLP and Moye Law Firm are Houston-based trial law firms known for their work in catastrophic injury litigation, industrial explosion lawsuits, and product liability cases against major corporations. The firms have tried multiple high-profile cases involving industrial accidents, chemical plant explosions, and unsafe manufacturing products.

Insights from the International Forum: Shaping the Path of Digital Platform Governance in ASEAN
“No single country, nor any single sector, can tackle digital challenges alone,” said H.E. Mr. Chaichanok Chidchob, Minister of Digital Economy and Society (MDES), who delivered opening remarks at the ASEAN–UNESCO Multistakeholder Forum on the Governance of Digital Platforms, an international conference co-organized by the Ministry of Digital Economy and Society, the Electronic Transactions Development Agency (ETDA), the ASEAN Secretariat, the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO), and the Global Initiative on the Future of the Internet (GIFI) under the European University Institute (EUI). The forum took place from 20–22 October 2025 in Bangkok, Thailand.
This statement was not only central to the forum but also underscored a shared commitment to advancing multistakeholder governance — the very approach ASEAN needs in an era when digital platforms increasingly shape people’s daily lives. Minister Chaichanok Chidchob emphasized that Thailand stands ready to serve as a regional hub for cooperation, driving a safe, transparent, and equitable digital ecosystem. The ultimate goal, he noted, is not only to protect users but to build digital trust — the cornerstone of the region’s future digital economy.
He further highlighted three key priorities for Thailand:
- Cross-border collaboration: ASEAN countries must jointly establish a set of common rules to manage risks posed by digital platforms operating across jurisdictions.
- User empowerment: Citizens should have the right to control their own data and make informed decisions based on transparency.
- Fair digital economy: A level playing field must be created to prevent large platforms from monopolizing the market or shaping social direction unilaterally.
This marked the beginning of a truly regional conversation — one that does not seek a single answer, but instead opens space for all sectors to participate. More than 350 participants from over 20 countries, including representatives from ASEAN Member States, the European Union (EU), UNESCO, academia, the private sector, and civil society, came together to exchange insights and co-develop approaches for digital platform governance — in an era where technology and human rights must advance hand in hand.
When 'Digital Platforms' Become the Infrastructure of Daily Life
Digital platforms have become the “infrastructure of everyday life” — shaping how people trade, learn, communicate, and consume information. Across ASEAN’s population of over 650 million, citizens increasingly depend on digital systems in nearly every aspect of their lives. In many countries, the platform economy now accounts for a growing share of GDP. It is projected that ASEAN’s digital platform economy will reach USD 159 billion in 2025 and expand to USD 2 trillion by 2030, underscoring how platforms have become a new engine of regional growth — spanning e-commerce, the gig economy, and digital services trade that generate both economic momentum and new employment opportunities for millions. On the other hand, these same platforms also bring complex, cross-border challenges — including disinformation, online scams, personal data breaches, privacy violations, and unfair competition — all of which affect users, consumers, businesses, and governments alike.
This has become one of the 'shared challenges' recognized by experts, government representatives, international organizations, private sector leaders, academics, and civil society participants at the forum. They agreed on the need to collectively establish 'new rules' that will enable digital technologies to grow responsibly — while maintaining a balance between 'innovation, economic progress, and human rights' across ASEAN. Such cooperation must align with global standards and remain sensitive to the unique contexts of the region.
Lessons from Europe: Building Rules for Transparency and Fair Competition
The forum spotlighted 'Europe' as a region that has established a strong foundation for digital platform governance through the EU’s Digital Policy Framework, anchored by two landmark laws — the Digital Services Act (DSA) and the Digital Markets Act (DMA). These acts serve as models of ex-ante regulation, emphasizing preventive governance rather than reactive enforcement. A representative from the European Commission’s Directorate-General for Communications Networks, Content and Technology (DG CONNECT) explained that the DSA and DMA function as 'complementary laws'. The DSA focuses on protecting users and society, holding platforms accountable for systemic risks such as disinformation, harmful content, rights violations, and opaque algorithms. The DMA, on the other hand, targets fair competition, ensuring that major 'gatekeeper' platforms operate fairly and allow smaller businesses to compete and access markets. Both laws share a common goal — to establish a co-regulatory ecosystem among governments, businesses, and users. This approach goes beyond legal penalties to foster shared responsibility in designing, enforcing, and monitoring rules, while cultivating a 'culture of transparency' in which all actors are expected to disclose information, enable oversight, and uphold accountability.
A representative from Coimisiún na Meán, Ireland’s media and online platform regulator, further shared practical insights from implementing the DSA at the national level. Ireland established an independent body known as the Digital Services Coordinator (DSC) to oversee compliance, address user complaints, and audit platform transparency directly. They emphasized that law alone is not enough — education, awareness, and technical understanding are equally essential. Irish regulators, therefore, are also developing “algorithmic literacy” — an understanding of how algorithms work.
UNESCO’s Perspective: Digital Governance Must Be Grounded in Human Rights
The forum also shed light on a new dimension of 'Digital Governance' through insights from experts involved in UNESCO’s Global Guidelines on the Governance of Digital Platforms. This framework adopts a human rights–based approach, emphasizing that governance should not restrict freedom of expression, but instead promote responsible management of online spaces. UNESCO underscored that effective platform governance requires 'Multistakeholder participation' — not only from governments, but also from platforms, private sector actors, civil society, researchers, and the media. Overreliance on state control alone, they warned, could unintentionally lead to limitations on fundamental freedoms.
Importantly, UNESCO representatives also highlighted the example of UNESCO’s Social Media 4 Peace (SM4P) initiative in Indonesia, which found that global platforms often rely on English-language content moderation systems rather than local languages, allowing harmful or distorted content in other languages to slip through the cracks, while also removing content that is inaccurate within a country's cultural context. UNESCO therefore proposes that 'Good Governance of Digital Platform Services' requires an understanding of local context and cultural and linguistic diversity. Another key tool UNESCO is promoting is Media and Information Literacy (MIL), which helps users understand the underlying mechanisms of platforms, identify fake news, and mitigate the risk of algorithmic influence.
During the workshop on 'Incorporating Media and Information Literacy and User Empowerment in Platform Governance,' participants from multiple countries discussed how media literacy extends beyond detecting fake news. It also involves understanding the 'Attention Economy and the mechanisms of algorithms' that shape human behavior, social discourse, and public opinion in today’s digital age.
Voices from ASEAN: Toward Shared Digital Principles for the Region
Voices from across ASEAN echoed a strong collective commitment to shaping the region’s forthcoming ASEAN Digital Principles — a foundational framework that will guide responsible digital development.
During the Forum, representatives from Member States shared their perspectives and approaches. Indonesia emphasized the concept of “Digital Sovereignty”, underscoring the protection of users and data security while advancing “Platform Accountability” to ensure that platforms are held responsible for their societal impacts, such as online fraud and misinformation.
Ireland, though not an ASEAN Member State, offered a noteworthy case study in establishing an independent regulatory structure that works closely with global platforms. It introduced the concept of a Digital Regulator Network, linking multiple oversight bodies to strengthen coordination.
Meanwhile, Lao PDR and Thailand, as co-hosts of the ASEAN Project, presented a draft of the “Recommendations on Digital Platform Governance in ASEAN”, which outlines nine key priority areas — for example disinformation management, transparency and fairness, online scams, algorithm and AI governance, personal data protection and digital users’ rights.
Several participants from ASEAN countries agreed that regional digital governance should be built upon “Joint Principles” rather than a single uniform law. This approach allows each country to adapt implementation to its own context while maintaining the shared core values of transparency, fairness, and respect for human rights.
From Platforms to Generative AI: The Next Chapter of Digital Governance
As digital platforms have become the central space for communication, work, and access to information worldwide, Generative AI has begun to amplify their capabilities — bringing both opportunities and new challenges in terms of trust, fairness, and data safety.
Experts at the Forum emphasized that Generative AI is not only a tool for content creation but also a powerful force shaping thought, truth, and discourse in the online world. Without transparent governance, these influences can have profound implications for human rights and freedom of expression.
The concept of “Safety by Design” emerged as a guiding principle — shifting focus from reactive regulation to proactive design. This means embedding responsibility and safety into the very foundation of technological systems, such as addressing algorithmic bias, preventing deepfake misuse, and protecting vulnerable users.
The ASEAN–UNESCO Multistakeholder Forum on the Governance of Digital Platforms highlighted that effective regulation is not about limiting freedom — it is about designing systems where freedom and responsibility can coexist.
Participants collectively agreed that the future of digital governance should rest on three core pillars:
- Transparency – clarity in data and algorithmic processes
- Accountability – shared responsibility between platforms and governments
- Empowerment – enabling users with the rights and literacy to shape their own digital experiences
Ultimately, the goal extends beyond building a framework for digital governance — it is about co-creating a digital future where everyone shares responsibility for the systems that shape our societies.
