We Will All Rise (All Rise) today announced the awarding of $300,000 in scholarships and work stipends to over 40 young men of color throughout the regions that they serve including Atlanta, GA; Baltimore, MD; Boston, MA; Lawrence, MA; Milwaukee, WI; Philadelphia, PA; and Washington, DC. These men are currently pursuing their degrees at 32 higher education institutions across the United States. The scholarships aim to empower and uplift men of color in their pursuit of higher education and provide them with the resources they need to succeed.
With a deep understanding of the challenges faced by Black and Brown men, All Rise recognizes the importance of supporting their educational aspirations. According to President and CEO Ricardo Neal, "By awarding scholarships, All Rise aims to break down barriers and create opportunities for these individuals to thrive academically." The scholarships not only provide financial assistance, but also serve as a symbol of belief in their potential and a commitment to their success.
According to the National Center for Education Statistics, only 36% of Black male students completed a bachelor's degree within six years. Young men participating in All Rise programming are graduating at a rate that exceeds 50%. All Rise has been investing in young men of color since 2020 and their impact continues to grow each year.
About We Will All Rise (All Rise)
All Rise was founded in 2019 when six young men of color convened to imagine the possibilities of a barrier and boundary-free world under the leadership of Ricardo O. Neal. All Rise is anchored in three main development pillars - higher education, economic empowerment, and community engagement. The funding model includes partnerships with municipalities, foundations, and individual-donor contributions that allow the organization to respond to the needs of the young men they support.
